Military Articulation Resources

• SDCCD Instructional Services: The mission of Instructional Services is to support the development and implementation of curriculum to fulfill the educational needs of the student population and the community. The purpose of the curriculum resources page is to provide resources and information for the development of curriculum.

• CIAC (California Intersegmental Articulation Council): The purpose of the California Intersegmental Articulation Council (CIAC) is to serve as a statewide forum for Articulation Officers to meet, discuss, and resolve college transfer and articulation issues; and to facilitate the progress of students between and among the segments of postsecondary education in California.

• ACE (American Council on Education): The American Council on Education (ACE) is the only higher education organization that represents presidents and chancellors of all types of U.S. accredited, degree-granting institutions: community colleges and four-year institutions, private and public universities, and nonprofit and for-profit colleges. This cross-sector membership enables ACE to serve as higher education's unifying voice. ACE, the major coordinating body for all the nation's higher education institutions, seeks to provide leadership and a unifying voice on key higher education issues and to influence public policy through advocacy, research, and program initiatives.

• SDCCD Military Education Program: The mission of the San Diego City College Government and Military Education Department has as its highest priority student learning and achievement. We directly support the educational requirements of the military by articulating courses for military rating-specific lower division education credit leading to Associates Degrees or transfer to a four-year college or university. Vocational education programs are also offered that meet specific government and industry needs. Our specialties are providing planning, resources, high quality instruction, continuous project maintenance, and assessment tools to meet the needs of the customer.

• Troops to College: Troops to College was created by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to attract more veterans to California's public universities and colleges by making campuses more veteran friendly. The initiative was designed to showcase the full range of curriculums and services available to veterans at California State University, the University of California, and California Community Colleges. Working with the California Department of Veterans Affairs, the Office of the Secretary of Education, the Labor and Workforce Development Agency, and military branches within the state, Troops to College is helping ensure veterans are aware of all their educational options.

• SOC: Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium colleges and universities are dedicated to helping servicemembers and their families get college degrees. Military students can take courses in their off-duty hours at or near military installations in the United States, overseas, and on Navy ships. SOC was created in 1972 to provide educational opportunities to servicemembers, who, because they frequently moved from place to place, had trouble completing college degrees. Today SOC is a consortium of more than1800 colleges and universities that provide educational opportunities for servicemembers and their families. SOC is cosponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), in cooperation with 13 other educational associations, the Military Services, the National Guard, and the Coast Guard. SOC is funded by the Department of Defense (DoD) through a contract with AASCU. The contract is managed for DoD by the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES).
