|Date(s) |1st Field Experience Activity/Time |PSC/ISTE Standard(s) |Reflection |
| | | |(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question) |
|11/2/15 – |Daily Routine |PSC 2.1, 2.3, 3.3, |Briefly describe the field experience. |
|11/13/15 |8:55-9:00 Writer’s Workshop – Beginning Sounds with ABC chart |3.4, 6.3 |I worked closely with an ELL student in my |
| |10:00- 10:20 Reader’s Worskshop & Letter ID intervention | |kindergarten class. I used piccollage app, IXL |
| |11:45-12:00 Identifying shapes |ISTE 2a, 3c, 3d |math program, and TinyTap app to help supports |
| | | |this studnt’s language acquisition. This |
| | | |applications provided the student with |
| | | |opportunities to practice skills or share their|
| | | |work with an authentic audience through the |
| | | |airplay option on the ipad. Technology is an |
| | | |engaging tool for allowing ELL students to |
| | | |become active learners in the classroom. |
| | | | |
| | | |2. How did this learning relate to the |
| | | |knowledge (what must you know), skills (what |
| | | |must you be able to do) and dispositions |
| | | |(attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a |
| | | |technology facilitator or technology leader? |
| | | |(Refer to the standards you selected in Part I.|
| | | |Use the language of the PSC standards in your |
| | | |answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, |
| | | |and dispositions.) |
| | | |-This field experience broadened my |
| | | |understanding of the language acquisition |
| | | |process. It helped me better understand the |
| | | |perspective of an ELL student. This field |
| | | |experience helped me develop strategies for |
| | | |promoting better student engagement and |
| | | |learning. It also provided me tools for better |
| | | |assessing learning process and depth of ELL |
| | | |students. I believe that this field experience |
| | | |has better equipped me to work with ELL |
| | | |students and their needs for language |
| | | |acquisition, support, and practice in the |
| | | |classroom. I believe that I will be better |
| | | |prepared to support teachers of these students |
| | | |as the strive to incorporate technology in |
| | | |their classrooms. This field experience has |
| | | |caused me to start thinking of ways I could use|
| | | |technology to support these students further as|
| | | |they learn English as a second language. |
| | | |3. Describe how this field experience impacted |
| | | |school improvement, faculty development or |
| | | |student learning at your school. How can the |
| | | |impact be assessed? |
| | | |-Student learning was impacted by increasing my|
| | | |knowledge and understanding of the language |
| | | |acquisition process of ELL students in the |
| | | |classroom. Impact of that learning can be |
| | | |assessed through improvement in student |
| | | |engagement and learning. Though the particular |
| | | |student involved in this field experience has |
| | | |not yet mastered some of the objectives, the |
| | | |student did progress from what is considered |
| | | |“an area of concern” to a “progressing” on his |
| | | |report card. |
