American Red Cross Class Policies CATAGORIES: Campus Rec Employee: Any student that is employed by the Department of Campus Recreation. They must be currently employed to receive the discount.Texas State Student or Texas State Community: Current Texas State studentCurrent Texas State faculty or staffAnyone that is “eligible” to join the SRC (retired alumni, dependant, spouse, etc.) They must show “proof” as they would to join the munity:Open enrollment includes anyone who desires to take the class. They do NOT have to be affiliated with the University in any manner. It is a requirement that you are at least 15 years old to take the American Red Cross classes.RESERVED SPOT FOR TEXAS STATE STUDENT AND TEXAS STATE COMMUNITY:In an effort to make sure that Texas State students and community have first access and ability to register in all programs, 5 of 10 open slots for each class will be reserved for Texas State students and community. No community participants will be allowed to sign up for these slots. All slots are open to Texas State student and community, but at least five will be reserved in each class for them. (i.e. do not sign up more than 6 community members per class).OPENING OF RESERVED SPOTS:If there are community members that would like to sign up for a class, but no slots remain for community members, the “open” reserved slots for Texas State students and community will be open one day prior to the class. This means if all 5 community slots are full, and it is one day prior to the class, the community members can sign up in one of the Texas State open slots. ** Please get SRC manager approval to sign up community members in this slot.CANCELLATION OF CLASSES All classes must have at least 4 people signed up to hold the class.If there are not at least 4 people in a class 24 hours prior to the class starting, then the class will be cancelled. Participants that have signed up for classes, will be called and informed of the cancellation.There are NO REFUNDS for ARC classes. If a class is cancelled, the participant can sign up for another time the same class is offered (for example, if the CPR class is cancelled due to low participation, then the participant can sign up for another CPR class). **All refunds must be discussed with the Assistant Director of Aquatics (Julie Saldiva). DO NOT promise a refund, this must come from the Assistant Director!PAYMENT OF CLASSES:All students MUST PAY IN FULL when they sign up. No one is allowed to reserve a slot unless payment of classes has occurred. Please make sure to completely and accurately fill out the ARC registration sheets and info in this binder. Their contact info is a necessary element for the instructor.NO SHOWS IN CLASSES:If a participant has signed up for a class and does not show for the class, they will NOT receive a refund or be able to sign up for another class. For them to take another ARC class they must pay again for the class. **If the participant calls at least 24 hours in advance (due to sickness, an emergency, etc.) , the front desk staff can move the date of the class they are taking. If somebody feels they have a special case, please direct them to the Assistant Director of Aquatics (Julie Saldiva) PRIOR to signing them up for another class. This also applies to Campus Rec student staff!FOR RECERTIFICATION COURSES:Students desiring to sign up for recertification courses must present their current certification cards to the instructor when they arrive to the first day of a recertification course. Any student who does not present their card will be asked to the leave the course and will not receive a refund. ................
