Ask the Pastor

Do you have any questions about Genesis? Would you like to ask a follow-up from Sunday's sermon? Well now you get to ask them! This Sunday night at 7PM please join Pastor Jake on his porch (or driveway, depending on how many come) to have an informal conversation about these questions or anything pertaining to the bible and how we are called to live today. Please bring a lawn chair.

THANKSGIVING

Our heartfelt thank you for carrying us through this one-year journey with our husband, father, & grandpa – Keith. Thanks for the cards that came all year reminding us of your prayers.

Thank you, to Pastor Jake for his visits & prayers with us and Rachael for her encouraging phone calls.

We rejoice Keith is with his Lord & Savior. We know that he is in Heaven and we are comforted by this.

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.

I Corinthians 2:9

Heaven is where Jesus is.

It is the place – where everything last forever,

where everything that is best remains,

where everything good is celebrated,

where light fills every space,

where love fills every heart,

where worship fills every breath,

where praise never stops,

where pain never enters,

where joys never cease.

Immanuel Giving Options

For those of you interested in the convenience of online giving, Immanuel will be moving away from PayPal and towards the Church Center app. The app is very simple to use, and the costs savings compared to PayPal are significant.

Please refer to the email that was sent out last week with more information with regards to setting up an account.

Our deacons expect to eventually move away from envelope giving entirely –

but if you would still prefer to receive the normal budget envelopes, please contact either Chris or Phyllis before October 1.

Hoping for Something Better

"God had planned something better for us... "

Hebrews 11:40

Many people live with a simmering sense of disappointment with life, with their own walk of faith, and with God. Doubts about whether or not Jesus is the only way to know God in a culture where his distinctives have become fuzzy and where radical discipleship is becoming costly only add to our discontent. The book of Hebrews was written to such people—people who needed to see clearly what makes Jesus worthy of our worship, worthy of our vigorous pursuit, worthy of our very lives.

Hoping for Something Better by Nancy Guthrie is an in-depth, understandable and practical Bible study of the book of Hebrews for the modern heart and mind.  In the end, readers will more fully grasp the person of Jesus Christ, what he has done for us, and why we should invest our lives in drawing near to him.

This will be a 11-session study with a chapter to read and study questions to complete. There is no video teaching as part of the study. We will be meeting every other Thursday at 9-10:30AM beginning on October 1. Please contact Evamarie Eggebeen if you are interested in joining: eeggebeen@ or 616-914-5629

Scheduled Dates:

October 1, 15, 29

November 5 (*note only 1-week gap here from 10/29), 19

December 3, 17

January 7, 21

February 4, 18

Everyone will be purchasing their own book in preparation for the study.  You can get it used or new depending on your preference.  It is available on many websites including , amazon, , and many more (just google it!).

Evamarie will have study guide/homework questions printed for everyone.

Safe Ministries Info
