Annual Report 2004-2005

List of 2004-05 goals and objectives

• The goal for the ADA committee is to consider issues and make recommendations to the College President concerning special requirements for special needs individuals utilizing services and facilities on campus.

Accomplishments and continuing projects

• Approved ADA statements to be used in CSC publications.

• Approved an induction loop system upon request for this technology.

• Completed employee access review.

• Kurzweil and Job Access with Speech (JAWS) have been updated.

• CSC web site is in compliance.

• Continually evaluate handicap parking on campus.

• Continually evaluate and meet accommodation needs.

• Continue working on all requirements for sign language interpreters.

• Continue with Edna work major renovation.

• Continue update of “Policy & Procedures for Accommodating Students with Disabilities”.

• Continuous improvements of sidewalks on campus.

• Completed special accommodation requests by a Science faculty member and provided by institution.

• Installed two automatic door openers in Administration Building, three automatic door openers in the Student Center and four automatic door openers in the Math/Science Building.

• Completed curb cuts west of the Sandoz Center to West Court and High Rise.

• Completed trail project to ADA standards.

• Grounds’ crew takes extra time on snow/ice removal in handicap stalls and curb cuts.

• Pepsi company installed Braille to all pop machines.

Recommendations for a program of work for next year

• A program of work for the committee for next year is to be a campus wide forum for the disabled community to voice their needs for the campus (employment, programs, and accessibility). Chadron State College does not discriminate on the basis of disability in the admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its programs or activities.
