Watermark University

Time has flown by this semester and we are already looking to our upcoming summer semester starting in May! We have a lot of great success from this semesters classes and we look forward to creating more success in this upcoming semester. Just a few sneak peeks at this coming semester are Muscle Car Creations, Genealogy for Beginners, Tai Chi, and many other new offerings soon to be hitting the summer course catalog.

Undoubtedly the continued support and longevity of this Watermark program is greatly carried by the many contributions from our Residents, Associates, Family, and Volunteers that give freely of their time to create a thriving environment at Greenbriar. This summer we would love to encourage you to consider moving beyond the role of classmate. We would like to extend the opportunity for you to teach this coming semester. The process is easy and is a very rewarding opportunity to help make an impact in the lives of your Greenbriar friends and family. Seize this opportunity to share your passions with us today. Come to the Community Life Office to learn more!

EXTREME SCIENCE OUTING!

(Extreme Weather Movie & Extraordinary Learning at Science City) Saturday April 13th at 8:30 am

Union Station-Kansas City, Missouri

It is always fun to learn about science and the laws that govern the biological, physical, terrestrial, and planetary properties that comprise our earthly experience. The forces and powers that create them are a profound experience to learn and understand, but what a better way to learn about all of this while being an active participant in the experiment yourself!

Come learn and play with us on our outing to the Science City Museum and to the Regnier Extreme Screen to view a National Geographic Movie about the extreme forces of nature called, "Extreme Weather". This fun-filled day of learning and playing is a true immersive experience for all who attend. You can even learn about gravity on the 30ft suspended cable bike called, "Sky Bike"!

Admission to the Regnier Extreme Screen is $6 per person and the admission for Science City is $13.25 per person and includes all exhibits and interactive displays.

Prior to our extreme science outing we will be having breakfast at Harvey's Union Station Restaurant in the Grand Lobby of Union Station. We look forward to you joining us for a kineticallyfantastic day of learning, exploring, and play.

Thriving

If you have been passing by the second floor chapel lately and you've heard the sweet melodies of the organ ringing out into the halls, then undoubtedly you have heard the sounds of a loving relationship rekindling between a Greenbriar Resident and the Lowery Electric Organ in our chapel.

Beverly Fann has been reuniting with a long lost friend; the Lowery organ, which she learned nearly 30 years ago in a series of Lowery organ classes. She is quickly picking up her old love again and enjoying the Lowery organ in our Chapel, which happens to be the exact same model that she used to own! You can commonly find her playing her heart out to the sounds of the "Flight of the Valkyries" or "Edelweiss" even playing some pop standards, country music, and a variety of classic to contemporary tunes. Whatever kind of sheet music she can get her hands on she is sure to be found pecking the keys of this amazing instrument creating a delightful melody of music for her enjoyment and for the enjoyment of those around.

After recently acquiring a book of Lowery sheet music she is playing her mini concerts daily. There's no end in sight for her growth and enjoyment playing music, and we are most delighted that she is able to find that here with us at The Fountains at Greenbriar. Thanks for learning and growing with us, Beverly!

Note: If you happen to have some sheet music for a Lowery Electric Organ, or know someone who does please contact Community Life.

A multitude of variables are ever present to possibly trip us up, but it is important to be aware of the ones that we can avoid. Join Hayley Hedges from Interim Healthcare to learn more about various ways that we can put up a first defense against slips, trips, and falls.
