Your Mission Statement

All organizations have a mission statement. It states our purpose for existing as an organization. For example, the library’s mission statement is as follows: “The goal of the CISD libraries is to provide an environment where all patrons are encouraged and empowered to become life-long learners and effective users of information and ideas.”

In chapter 2, the author recommends everyone have their own personal mission statement. You are going to create a mission statement for your life.

Go to Under Tools, choose Mission Statement Builder. Watch the intro. When it’s over, enter your name and email address where required. Complete the Mission Statement Builder. When it’s done, it will email your mission statement to you.

Revise, as necessary, the personal mission statement you were emailed. Look at the examples on pages 106-107. These examples are pretty detailed; yours does not have to be this detailed, but it should cover the areas in your life that you have control over. At the very least, it should mention home, friends, family and school. If the Mission Statement Builder did not cover these areas, add a line or two to your personal mission statement to cover them.

You may write your personal mission statement in narrative form or bullet form, whichever you prefer. Submit your personal mission statement, typed, by noon on Sunday, October 26th You can email it to me as an attachment. My email address is on the 7 Habits Quia page. Attachments should be either .doc or .rtf extensions. Submissions with different extensions will not be able to be opened and therefore, will not be graded!

Your personal mission statement will be worth 75 points of this week’s 100 total points.
