D) PERSONS TO BE HEARD

I) Center for Community Engagement and Learning

Vitor de Carli, CCEL Engage liaison, announced two scholarship opportunities. Dr. Alex Hills Engineering and Civic Engagement Award for $2500 for engineering students who wants to implement a technology to solve a community problem. Second Bridge Scholarship Award for students who want to engage in service learning. Both are good opportunities through the center. Both deadlines November 30.

E) BUDGET REPORT – Account has $10,600 for clubs to request. HHFN does not have a report yet; ticket counts are still being confirmed.

F) USUAA Report – Thanksgiving Day Feast on November 22 at the Commons. Volunteers needed.

G) LEADERSHIP COORDINATOR – We have reopened the search for a new Administrative Assistant for Student Clubs & Greek Life – candidates interviewed were not fully qualified for the position. While Jess is gone, things have been going pretty smoothly. However, if there are any issues, please contact me.

H) COMMITTEE REPORTS

I) Campus Programming Board – There has not been a meeting for a while.

II) Special Projects Fund – UAA SAE Baha received funding for building a car. Students for Life also received funding for adoption awareness event. Next meeting will share amount that is left for requests.

III) Student Union & Commuter Student Services Board – Great week last week during Election Tentral. Over 1300 students came through and there were lots of food and tvs for people to watch the election results. Video nights and Latin Dance series (Wednesday nights) have been going well; there are a few left for the semester. Preparing for LateNight relaxation week. Relax when you are stressed with finals. Free food. We will start teaching new dances including hip hop. Planning a talent show. All skis are ready to go – best place in town to get the equipment. Seasonal rentals? Need to discuss it with the office. Our mission is to satisfy your needs.

IV) Concert Board – spring events are being planned

V) Diversity Action Council – plenty of money left to fund projects

VI) HHFN – report – event went really well. Thank you for participating. We made kids happy. Made over $7000. Make a Wish Foundation were really happy and want to come to a meeting

I) NEW BUSINESS

I) Funding Requests

i) Student Nursing Association – $1078.54 request. T-shirt fundraiser. Already bought t-shirts – will have them on display in the new Health Science Building next week. Volunteers Around the World asked: What is the cause? Response: we have a lot of causes March of Dimes is one of them. T-shirts are unisex sizes, so for woman, need to order small. General meetings are open to anyone and are the 4th Tuesday of every month. 5-6pm. Health Science Building (November 27). One of the classrooms in the 1st floor. Could ask the receptionist for the exact location. $15 for t-shirt; $25 for hoodies. 80% yes; 17% no - PASSED.

ii) Sociology Club – $353.66 request. Fundraiser for the club and providing a service. Consortium Library 10am-1am is open. Coffee-stand open Sunday to Thursday night. Coffee stand provides coffee and tea for students, as well as some snacks for purchase. Located across from the check out area. Sociology Club is there to help with the table. Cash only service. Native Student Council asked, would you have energy drinks? No, we are trying to keep the cost minimum for the club and students. Simple service only, more economical for the club. 86% yes; 7% no; PASSED

iii) American Sign Language Club – $252.49 request. First big event to be put on by the club. Fun game day for the deaf community. No voice event, sign language only. Food and drinks provided. Event is Saturday, November 17 from 1-3pm, Student Union. Open to anyone who wants to attend. Kinds of games: Telephone game, Jeopardy, but sign language only. 95% YES; 2% NO -PASSED

iv) Students for Life – $270 request. Event is November 14, 7pm at Lucy’s. Second annual adoption awareness event. Catholic Support Services will be in attendance. Free for students. Dinner is free. Learn about the adoption process – hear from people who have gone through the adoption process and individuals who have been adopted. 77%, 19%; 2% abstain PASSED

II) New Club Proposals

i) Arigaa – Group not present and has not been approved yet.

J) CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS

I) Jog-a-Thon – Volunteers Around the World – Joseph. Event for next semester. (hand-out) benefits every single club. For every lap an individual jogs, they get a pledge. Popular event in the lower 48. You can get sponsorships from individuals or businesses. To your runner or another runner. Make good money this way. You will get most of the profit. Will be at the dome. Before spring break of next year. Exact details will be coming soon, probably next meeting. Jog-A-Thon fair you can set up a booth for your club (like campus kick off). Benefit your club and you can broadcast. Questions: Tax ride off? Cap to how many money you make? Can you relay with other people? Response: You can run for different causes. People that are not part of the official club can participate. Passed a contact list. A good fundraiser.

II) Relay for Life – American Cancer Society. Collegiate Relay for Life. Want to start it at UAA. Need to start it from the ground up. Takes place at a track. 24hr event. Funds raised go to research programs and services for cancer patients. Clubs become teams and you bring your members and friends. Fundraise with your club and the money goes to the American Cancer Society. Next meeting November 12, 8:30am. Kick off and registration North Cafeteria of the Student Union on November 27. Event is tentatively scheduled for second week of April.

III) Submit more funding requests. Requests due Friday by 5pm before the upcoming meeting.

K) ADJOURNMENT – meeting ended at 2:00pm
