Assoc, phd, 4 years, masters degrees. Application opens early Oct. also a grantor, given over 40 mil since 1985. Also do sponsorships for events that meet their mission. Yes.Drew Lemish – President, USUAA: Looking for VP and senators for USUAA, deadline extended due to low number of applications, need to appoint people to boards: media, travel, election, etc.; Travel grants due sept 20 for this semester. Appoint CommitteeNEW BUSINESSFunding RequestsProcedures Review – 5 mins to pitch req, 5 mins for questions, put to a vote 2/3 vote to passAccounting Club - Fall social to network with potential future employers, new venue: Marriott, requesting $2000 to help fund, need funds b/c current funds allotted for other events. Questions? Is event open to all UAA students? Yes. Fee to come $20 for non accounting club members. What would food/catering entail? Hors deurves, cake, etc. How many people attended last year? Over 100 people per social. How does this benefit UAA? Benefits students who want to improve their networking skills, meet business professionals and further their career opp. Format of event? Business casual, meet people in a comfortable way, announce upcoming events. Just accounting professionals attend? No, large mix of people from university attend. Advertising? Flyers, emails, word of mouth. Why are UAA students being charged same as comm? Rest of funding comes from dues. If you can afford it why are you asking for funding? Need funding for other events in semester bowling, Spring social, meeting foods. Will you make money back from this event? It would go back to funding this event, doesn’t recover full cost.Discussion: Jenny – has done event like this last year, spent $1000 for fully catered event at snow city for 100 people. Can do this type of event for a lot less money.Would you consider a student discount price? $20 is a lot for students. –would consider it.This event comes every year and always asks for funding, accounting club can pay for this event but we shouldn’t penalize a club for having good fund raising and active members. Really important event for business majors and accounting majors.Open to all UAA students, fairly successful event in past.Voting: 1 is yes, 2 is no, anything else. 13/20 yes. Approved. 5 nos. 2 other.Sociology Club – Late nights in the library. Funding to pay for coffee and snacks, cups and lids donated. Asking for $200. Officially asking for 198.53.Only fundraiser right now, trying to raise funds for future events that will be free. Discussion: none.Voting: 20/20 yes. approvedNew Club ProposalsFrench Club – Asking for $100 seed money. Christian Taylor = president. 5 officers in 300 level French or higher. Meetings at Kaladi to practice speaking French or get help with hw. Advisor attends all meetings. Involvement in culture festivals, putting one together with other clubs for UAA? Plans for fundraising French movie night, game night, food night. Want to participate in culture club events. Would like to promote French program at UAA open to all UAA students and public. Have just over a dozen members interested in attending meetings. Pros of club: practice speaking, student to student and student to professional connections, community engagement.If I don’t speak French can I come? YesIf SA does international film festival would you like to work with them? YesWould you include ASL when getting language clubs together? yesSMart Outreach – no representative present.CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTSSimple Truth Club – Amanda Knapp – tomorrow is 9/11 national day of service and rememberence. Going door to door reminding people of fire safety. Clubs looking for service opp are welcome to come tomorrow at 9am serving food.
