16St John’s Ev. Lutheran Church and School475 E. Herbert Ave. Salt Lake City, Utah 84110Web Address: Pastor Hank Malone 385-234-1931 rev.dr.hankmalone@Phone Worship Service Sunday 9:55 AM 605-313-4812 group code 2525#Our phone worship service is available for you and your family and friends joining us by using 605-313-4812 and giving access code 2525# when prompted. Due to the background noise introduced by numerous phones being connected and each having some noise or generating noise in each location, like heavy breathing or dog barking..etc., -- We must ask you to mute your end of the call or cover the mike portion of the phone while you join the liturgy of our service. Heavy breathing and other noises make it very difficult for you and others to hear and worship. There is also a lag time of about 1.5 seconds between when you hear and when you respond making unison worship difficult at best. We will be using one voice for you to speak with, as you respond with the responses listed in the bulletin and printed prayers of the service by muting. You will sing with one voice and to the tune of the music. Brent, our organist has agreed to both play and be the lead voice for you to match with yours. This should do away with the lag time in the music and allow a little faster pace. The one voice singing is for you to sing along and participate in the liturgy. Worship is not a spectator thing and unless you are involved in the worship acts ---participating, the whole thing will be tedious and not the nurturing program it is meant to be. You need to sing along, pray along, and respond, but your phone needs to be on mute or the mike covered. We need You to hear and be part of this worship effort by participating. Singing with another voice may be challenging, but it will also be rewarding. Do more than listen, be involved and participate. If you mute only you will hear the imperfect effort. That is ok, because it will get better and it will be perfect in heaven. You are invited to email Pastor concerning questions about the service and or sermon. Helpful suggestions are more than appreciated. I appreciate the positive comments, but I really am looking for ways to improve your worship experience. May you be blessed by your time with us as God serves us during our worship of Him.As we struggle through these times of isolation, we give thanks to our God who tells us He will never leave us or forsake us. We may not be able to understand the why, but we know that God is in our midst working to sustain us and turn evil to our good. His word is never broken, and His love for us assures us of victory over all that would destroy body and soul. We are with Him and He continues to gift us with life, body, soul, family, friends and church family. We have much to be thankful for. Because of the resurrection of our Lord, we need never to fear. We can do all things through Him who strengthens and loves us. Let us take a deep breath and step back mentally and emotionally from problems as we respond to challenges. If you feel yourself getting carried into arguments, give you and your contender a little slack. Facts and reality are lost in moments when these emotional outbursts take place. They are opportunities to see that life is not all about us. And the people became impatient on the way. 5And the people spoke against God & against Moses, “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? 4. There is no food & no water, & we loathe this worthless food.” 6 Then the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, & they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. 7And the people came to Moses & said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD & against you. Pray to the LORD, that He take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. 8And the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent & set it on a pole, & everyone who is bitten, when he sees it shall live.” 9So Moses made a bronze serpent & set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent & live.P: This is the word of the LordC: Thanks be to GodGRADUAL: (Adapt. SECOND READING: 1 Timothy 2:1-61.First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,2.for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,4.Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5. HOLY GOSPEL John 16: 16:23-33P: The Holy Gospel according to St. John the 16 th. chapter.C: Glory to You, O Lord.23 In that day you will ask nothing of Me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He will give it to you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. 25 I have said these things to you in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father. 26 In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf; 27 For the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came from God. 28 I came from the Father and have come into the world, and now I am leaving the world and going to the Father.” 29His disciples said, “Ah, now You are speaking plainly and not using figurative speech! 30 Now we know that you know all things, and do not need anyone to question You; this is why we believe that You came from God.” 31 Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? 32 Behold, the hour is coming, indeed, it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave Me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with Me. 33 I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, “I have overcome the world.”(After the reading)P: This is the Gospel of the LordC: Praise to You, O Christ.HYMN OF THE Day: “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty” LSB 790 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!Oh my soul, praise Him, for he is your health and salvation!Let all who hear now, to His temple drawn near, joining in glad adoration!Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things, is wondrously reigningAnd, as on wings of an eagle, uplifting, sustaining.
