BOARD OF TRUSTEES COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING
ANDERSON SCHOOL DISTRICT NUMBER FIVE
Anderson, South Carolina
October 13, 2016
6:30 P.M.
The Board of Trustees of Anderson County School District Number Five met in the Offices of the Board this date with the following members present: Dr. Sandy Addis, Mr. Rick Bradshaw, Mr. John P. Griffith, Mr. Harold R. Kay, II, and Mr. Tommy Price. Absent were Mr. Jay Blankenship, Rev. Johnny S. Donald, Jr., Mrs. Ann W. Huitt, and Mr. Paul Zugg.
NOTICE TO MEDIA
In accordance with the S. C. Code of Laws, 1976, Section 30-4-80(d), as amended, the following have been notified of the time, date, place and agenda of this meeting: The Anderson Independent-Mail, Greenville News, The Anderson Journal, WYFF, WSPA, Paul Brown, and FOX 21.
CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Bradshaw called the meeting to order at 6:348 p.m. and welcomed everyone to the meeting.
ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION
The following items were opened for discussion:
• McCants Property Commercial Real Estate Broker Services
• School Safety Update
• SCSBA Official Voting Delegate Certification Form
• Board of Trustees Meeting Agenda (October 18, 2016)
RECESS
Mr. Price made a motion the Board recess then reconvene in Executive Session to discuss a Personnel Matter and a Student Matter. Dr. Addis seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.

OPEN SESSION FOLLOWING EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mr. Price made a motion the Board reconvene in Open Session. Mr. Kay seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
Mr. Bradshaw reported that no action was taken in Executive Session; however, action is required on the Personnel Matter and the Student Matter.
Mr. Griffith made a motion the Board accept the Administration’s recommendation regarding the Personnel Matter. Mr. Price seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
Mr. Kay made a motion the Board uphold the Hearing Officer’s recommendation regarding the Student Matter. Dr. Addis seconded the motion.
Mr. Griffith then stated that the motion is to include that the District will not require the student to attend the Alternative School.
Mr. Kay amended his original motion to state the Board uphold the Hearing Officer’s recommendation regarding the Student Matter with the exception, based on the argument presented, that the District will not require the student to attend to the Anderson County Alternative School but that the student may apply to the Anderson County Alternative School. Dr. Addis seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Dr. Addis made a motion the Board adjourn. Mr. Price seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
