SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The Anderson County Conservation District will present one (1) $1,000.00 scholarship to a qualified graduate of Anderson County High School. This scholarship shall be divided into two (2) payments of $500.00 each semester

The selection committee shall consist of the seven Supervisors of the Anderson County Conservation District.

Completed applications must be received by the Anderson County Conservation District at its office at 143 West Woodford Street no later than March 22nd. Applications may be delivered in person or via mail with the postmark date no later than March 22nd. Failure to meet these deadlines will result in automatic disqualification of the application.

The Conservation Board reserves the right not to award a scholarship to any applicant if a majority of the Board determines that a qualified candidate does not exist.

The recipient of the Anderson County Conservation District Scholarship will be chosen based upon the criteria established by the Supervisors during their regular meeting on the third Tuesday of each month. The criteria that will be used include the following:

1. Be a student graduating from Anderson County High School

2. Provide an official copy of a current school transcript.

3. Provide a copy of ACT or SAT test scores.

4. Provide 2 letters of recommendation. At least one of these letters must be from a Teacher at Anderson County High School.

5. Compose a personal statement that outlines why you need this scholarship. Please focus on career goals.

6. Major in one of the following fields, listed in order of preference:

a. Conservation and Natural Resource Services

b. Forestry

c. Plant and Soil Science

d. Landscape Architecture

e. Environmental Studies

f. Agricultural Economics

g. Agricultural Engineering

h. All other Agricultural programs not listed

7. All applicants must read and sign the enclosed form swearing that all information is true and accurate to their best belief and knowledge.
