CHIEF JUDGE DIRECTIVE 81-1
CHIEF JUDGE DIRECTIVE 81-01
ELEVENTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT
TO: JUDGES ANDERSON & SCHLATTER & CLERKS OF THE DISTRICT COURTS OF FREMONT, PARK,
CHAFFEE, AND CUSTER COUNTIES
FROM: JUDGE PAUL J. KEOHANE
DATE: JULY 29, 1981
RE: Calendars and Dockets
Attached is a directive from the Chief Justice issued back in 1975.
The reasoning still applies. Someone in the clerk’s office must have each judge’s calendar or a copy thereof at all times.
We also must have dockets for each court day, which should be prepared as soon as possible on the preceding day and duly posted.
The practice of a judge being the sole possessor of the physical calendar and its contents must cease immediately.
Mr. Kessler and I are available as to any problems you encounter.

OFFICE OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE
DIRECTIVE CONCERNING THE AVAILABILITY
OF DISTRICT JUDGES’ CALENDARS
WHEREAS, it has come to my attention that some district judges in multi-county districts carry with them the only copy of their hearing and trial calendar; and
WHEREAS, when a judge who has the only copy of his calendar becomes ill, incapacitated, or absent from his district, especially on short notice, it is impossible for court personnel to notify attorneys and litigants that the judge will be absent, thus causing them considerable inconvenience; and
WHEREAS, under the same circumstances it is difficult, if not impossible, for the chief judge to arrange promptly for a replacement with the state court administrator;
NOW THEREFORE, pursuant to the executive authority vested in the Chief Justice under Article VI, Section 5(2) of the Colorado Constitution, all district judges in multi-county districts are directed to place and maintain a copy of their calendars with the district administrator and with the district court clerk in each county in the district.
Done at Denver, Colorado, this 18th day of February, 1975.
