Reading Project: Edmodo Discussion

1. Purchase your book online or from a local bookstore

2. Read your book

3. Discussion questions for each book will go live by June 10, 2013 (start date).

4. Each student is expected to respond to at least 8 of the teacher-directed questions.

5. Each student is required to respond to points made by other students. You should ‘piggyback’ onto (agree AND add your own thought) or argue a point (disagree politely AND explain why) with at least 15 other student answers. If you are one of the first students to discuss the book, you may need to revisit the Edmodo page at a later date for the student discussion.

6. You should be finished reading your book and done with all your discussion questions and student responses by August 13, 2013 (end date).

7. IF for any reason you cannot get onto your Edmodo account, it is your responsibility to first read the help menu at the site. Then email Mrs. Chesney with your issue.

Due Dates and Grading:

Due: ALL books should be read and Edmodo discussion questions completed by Tuesday, August 13. The written test will be given the following week when students start back to school.

Grading: 40% Edmodo discussion/60% Written test given during the first week of school

Test:

The test will be approximately 20-25 multiple choice questions on major events, themes, and characters given the first week of school.

What to do IF…?

1. …I don’t have a computer.

Visit your local library, a relative or friend with a computer or stop by the PVHS Library on one of the open dates (see school website) . An Edmodo app is available for FREE on iPhone and Andriod phones.

2. …I am not sure where to get the book.

Books are available in stores and online at the places listed as well as Poor Richard’s (20% discount) in Easley. Or, You can share with a friend.

3. …I can’t afford the book

4. …I can’t get into my Edmodo.
