A. WCSD Schools Receive Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Grant Awards

The Williamsburg County School District’s schools and Charter School listed below have been awarded Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program grant funds for the 2016-2017 school year: Congratulations to school principals and the district’s Food Services Director.

1. Greeleyville Elementary School ($3,577.78)

2. Kenneth Gardner Elementary School ($5,223.30)

3. W. M. Anderson Primary School ($6,594.58)

4. D. P. Cooper Charter School ($6,494.85)

B. WCSD Schools Receive 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC)

Grant Awards

The Williamsburg County School District’s schools listed below have been awarded 21st CCLC grant funds to continue operating programs at those sites. Congratulations to school principals and the district’s Grants Writer and Grants Writing Team.

1. C. E. Murray High School ($95,625.00)

2. Kingstree Middle Magnet School ($112,500)

3. Kingstree Senior High School ($150,000)

4. W. M. Anderson Primary ($95,540.00)

C. WCSD Participates in “Every Kid in a Park” Initiative

Williamsburg County School District, together with four other school districts have been awarded a $9,000 grant, through a new White House youth initiative designated to get all 4th graders and their families to experience the places that are home to our country’s natural treasures, rich history, and vibrant culture.

The program is designed to help engage and create our next generation of National Park visitors, supporters and advocates, the White House, in partnership with the Federal Land Management agencies, launched the Every Kid in a Park initiative. The immediate goal is to provide an opportunity for every 4th grade student across the country to experience their federal public lands and waters in person throughout the 2016-2017 school year.

Beginning September 1st all kids in the fourth grade will have access to their own Every Kid in a Park. This pass provides free access to national parks across the country, and South Carolina’s Congaree National Park, Columbia, SC.

9. EXECUTIVE SESSION

Pursuant to Section 30-4-70 of the South Carolina Code of Laws of 1976, as amended, the Board needs to hold an Executive Session. No formal action or voting will take place during the Executive Session. The Board will convene in Executive Session to discuss the following:

A. Discussion of Employment Matters, Including: Election, Transfer, Termination,

Retirement, Reorganization and/or Resignation of Staff.

B.   Receipt of legal advice regarding litigation, employment matters, and facilities updates. 

10. OPEN SESSION

The Chairperson shall convene the Board in Open Session to vote on any matters per Executive Session discussion.
