16. Major Research Interests

My interest is in minority health services research to eliminate health disparities. My focus is on cancer prevention, education and screening, and chronic disease prevention of the minority population through community-based service and research. As such, my research objectives are to

• Understand the community needs for cancer prevention and education

• Implement culturally and linguistically appropriate cancer education programs that would increase cancer awareness, improve screening, and reduce barriers

• Examine the impact of culture, literacy, and behavioral factors on cancer prevention

• Establish innovative health delivery services to reduce disparities in care among the underserved
