Kahoot! is a gamification web platform. It is also available as an app for IOS and Android. The main purpose of Kahoot! is to provide learning experiences with the emphasis on fun to engage reluctant learners.

Learning takes place through online quizzes or surveys controlled by the teacher via a shared pin code which can be accessed by any device connected to the Internet. Learners can use their own name or nickname. The survey requires learners to read the screen and select an answer by selecting one of the coloured symbols shown on their smart phone or iPad screen. The answers to the survey are consolidated from the audience after each question and results shown for discussion or comment.

Kahoot! can also be played as a team game or by individuals. During the activity it is possible to develop classroom discussion based on the answers given without necessarily identifying individuals who have made different choices. The teacher can determine the pace at which the quiz or survey is run depending on the type of interactions between questions.

No Love for Hate Kahoot!

The No Love for Hate Kahoot! has been designed to run as a survey because there is no correct answer but provides feedback and can spark debate. It is a private Kahoot! Learners access the Kahoot by going to via the pin code provided and are asked to view several short media clips and images. They then choose their response from the options provided for each question. For instance a image is shown about the NHS is followed by a question and four answer choices:

Responses shown here must be made within 30 seconds but this can be increased to one minute if the teacher thinks this is insufficient time to make a fair response.

There are a total of twenty questions for this particular Kahoot!
