P.O.R.C.C. Newsletter

Dear PORCC Club Members:

It is hard to believe we are already a quarter of the way through our yearly shows. Great shows, if I must say so myself! , But as the year progresses and we plan and put on each show more elements of concern reveal themselves.

Several years ago, discussion and agreement with the membership took place to decrease the number of shows from 10 to 8. More recently, discussion and again agreement, took place with the membership to increase our member show door fee to $20.00.

Despite these measures, it is still becoming more and more difficult to support all that is needed to present 8 shows. The areas of difficulty can include any of the following items: Group that still has an original member so as to hold to the original premise of the PORCC Club was developed, or the groups that exist, their performance fees have significantly increased compared to their cost when the club first started. You must, additionally, keep in mind; the PORCC Club performance expects groups to perform 20-22 songs. This is typically not what happens at other venues. Most, if not, close to all, groups request transportation by air, which significantly increases our overall show costs. I am sure I may be leaving other cost impacts out of this letter, but the point is we are again at a point where we need to reassess our capabilities.

I have delayed writing this letter for quite some time, hoping the outlook and current abilities would change. Frankly, as it stands now, we cannot afford to put on a show for June of 2008. An average show cost is anywhere from $5,000 - $6,000 and we do not have that amount of money available.

It is time for us to make yet another change. Reduce the number of shows per year to 4 or 6.

The yearly dues at $160.00 per year remain, as does the $20.00/member admission fee.

I need your comments, As soon as you receive this letter. Please call either me @ 724-745-6898 after 7pm or Bob @ 412-486-5827.

At this time, please be informed there will not be a PORCC show on June 8, 2008.

Looking forward to your comments and suggestions.

Sincerely,

P.O.R.C.C. Club President & Committee Board
