2 First Friday All-Night Adoration in prayer for the advancement of the culture of life will be held at the Discalced Carmelite Monastery, 600 Flowers Ave., Dallas 75211, located off of Jefferson Blvd. Security will be there throughout the night. Come as early as 5:00 p.m. Latin Mass at 8:00 p.m. Adoration ends just before the 7:00 a.m. Saturday Mass. These prayer vigils will be held every First Friday. The Cloistered Carmelites will also be praying all night. You may leave your personal prayer requests with them. There will be food and drink available in the evening. 10 GEMS: Healthy Relationships: 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., at St. Rita Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Rd., Dallas, in Sweeney Lounge. GEMS (Gabriel Education Ministry & Support) classes are for Gabriel Angels, Gabriel moms, GEMS moms, and friends of Project Gabriel. Learn to build healthy relationships by exploring past mistakes, learning to respect yourself and setting boundaries. Learn to experience nurturing, trusting, and God-filled relationships with yourself and others. Facilitator is Fonda Lash, B.A., M.A. Light lunch is included. 10 TV TRU (Teen Voices for the True Rights of the Unborn) Meeting: 2:00 p.m., at the Lowery Residence, 1016 Grosse Pt., Irving 75061. TV TRU is the peer presentation team for Youth For Life. TV TRU trains high school teens to proclaim the Gospel of Life LOUD and STRONG! We meet once a month for fellowship, further training, and to prepare for upcoming presentations. 10 Dinner & Politics: Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Angels new Education & Formation Building, 1914 Ridgeview Dr. (located east of Custer Rd. and north of McDermott). Come learn how to become active in the legislative process and make sure the Catholic voice is heard in Congress. Guest speaker Andrew Smith, Director of Communications of the Catholic Pro-Life Committee, will discuss legislation in the upcoming Texas Legislative session and the U.S. Congress, the good and the bad, and how everyone can be involved in making sure pro-life bills are passed this year. 13 2nd Tuesday Night Rosary at Planned Parenthood abortion center, sponsored by TOPP (Texans Opposed to Planned Parenthood): 6:30 p.m., in front of Jason’s Deli, 7412 Greenville Ave., just south of Walnut Hill Ln., Dallas. After the rosary, we will go into Jason’s Deli for food, Christian fellowship and pro-life discussion. Park in the Jason’s Deli parking lot. This is a monthly event. 13-21 10,000 Masses for Unborn Babies: A Novena of Masses for the protection of unborn human persons: The Saint Michael the Archangel Organization is pleased to announce the first annual 10,000 MASSES FOR UNBORN BABIES effort. From January 13th through January 21st, it is hoped the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered at least 10,000 times for the following intention: For the protection of unborn human persons. To participate, ask a priest to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on one of the following days in 2009: January 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, or 21st for the following intention: For the protection of unborn human persons. You may, of course, have more than one Mass offered. Please see for more information.

16 “Lock-In for Life” for all Youth of the Diocese: 7:00 p.m. through 8:00 a.m. on January 17, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 180 Samuel Blvd., Coppell. Join us for a powerful and engaging night to pray, learn, and grow in community to celebrate the dignity of all life from conception to natural death. Adoration, Live Bands, Food & Fun! Then on Saturday we will join thousands of other people from North Texas to march with our Bishop and pray for an end to abortion. Youth must attend as a group with Safe Environment-cleared adults. “Lock-In for Life” Registration and Release form must be signed. Cost is $15. See the Roe Memorial schedule of events which follows. Saturday, January 17 – ROE MEMORIAL Schedule of Events

8:00 a.m.: Board buses at the Cathedral for the Roe Memorial Rosary at 9:00 a.m. at Fairmount abortion center, 2921 Fairmount, prior to the Bishop’s Roe Memorial Mass at the Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. Since the ecumenical Dallas March for Life will be from the Cathedral to the Federal Courthouse after Mass, the Roe Memorial Rosary will be prayed at Fairmount – Dallas’ and Texas’ oldest abortion center – before the Mass. Buses will run starting at 8:00 a.m. from the Cathedral to Fairmount, and seats will be reserved in the Cathedral for those attending the Rosary. Church and school buses are encouraged to go directly to Fairmount for the Rosary. There is free parking in the Cathedral garage.

10:00 a.m.: 16th Annual Roe Memorial Mass & Adoration, followed by Dallas Rally & March for Life, marking the 36th anniversary of the tragic January 22, 1973, Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision which legalized abortion in America. In memory of the more than 48 million babies who have died and in prayer for the mothers and fathers who have been hurt by abortion, a bilingual Mass will be concelebrated by the Most Reverend Kevin J. Farrell, Bishop of Dallas, and diocesan clergy at the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe, 2215 Ross Ave. at Pearl St., Dallas.

A representative born each year from 1973-present is needed to carry a rose in the annual “Procession of Roses” at Mass. Following Mass will be Eucharistic Adoration and an ecumenical rally and Dallas March for Life.

12 noon: Rally & Dallas March For Life: After Mass, there will be a 35-minute rally at the Cathedral Plaza, and we will march from the Cathedral Plaza to the Earle Cabell Federal Courthouse, where the Roe v. Wade case was first filed in 1970. Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops and parish or school organizations are encouraged to participate in this powerful prayer and public witness event. Bring your troop flag or club banner for the Dallas March for Life! This event is co-sponsored by the Catholic Pro-Life Committee, Texans for Life Coalition, Catholics Respect Life from the Diocese of Fort Worth, Concerned Women for America of Texas, the Downtown Pregnancy Center, First Baptist Church of Dallas, and other pro-life/pro-family organizations. After a brief prayer service at the Federal Courthouse we will proceed to the nearby Criswell Center at First Baptist Church, Dallas,

1707 San Jacinto St., for reception and pro-life info fair. Five dollar box lunch will be available.

22 Dallas Adult Trip to March for Life in Washington, D.C.: On January 22, 1974, the first March for Life was held on the West Steps of the Capitol. An estimated 20,000 committed pro-life Americans rallied that day on behalf of our preborn brothers and sisters. On January 22, 2008, an estimated 200,000 gathered to march for life. It is hoped that on January 22, 2009, 500,000 to a million pro-life Americans will gather to rally and march to be sure the new administration hears our voices for the voiceless! 24-25 National FOCA Postcard Campaign: The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment (NCHLA) are coordinating a nationwide “Fight FOCA Postcard Campaign” to send a message to Congress and the new administration that the “Freedom of Choice Act” (FOCA) does not represent our values or the values of the American people. The U.S. Bishops have voted unanimously for the Church to participate in this campaign. Bishop Farrell has asked all parishes in the Diocese of Dallas to participate in the campaign. 31 Catholic Action Team (CAT) Training: Join the Catholic Action Team! Our kick-off training will be held on Saturday, January 31, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas School, 6306 Kenwood Ave., Dallas, in the Drama Room. Politics does not end with elections. Now the work of passing pro-life bills in the upcoming 111th Congress and Texas Legislative Session begins. The Catholic Pro-Life Committee is building a Catholic Team Action of Citizen Volunteers to become more involved in the work of public policy advocacy. Citizen Volunteers will be asked to pray for and monitor the votes, statements and activities of a particular elected official and will be encouraged to phone them, write letters and visit with them at least once a year. The more our elected officials hear from us and that we support pro-life bills, the better chance we have of getting them passed. Training and resources are provided for free to all Citizen Volunteers of the Catholic Action Team.

8 Pure Reality Youth Rally: Are you concerned about the way your teens are bombarded with sex in the media and their surroundings? Pure Reality, a youth rally for grades 8-12 and presented by the Catholic Pro-Life Committee and Catholics Respect Life, is on Sunday, February 8, 2009, from 4:00 - 9:30 p.m. at the Metro Center in Arlington. Our mission is to present a Pure Reality to today’s youth, letting them know that chastity and abstinence are the true paths to freedom. The opening Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Kevin Farrell and guest presenters include Chris Stefanick from Catholic Answers and the Archdiocese of Denver, Father Stan Fortuna, CFR, and the Theater of the Word. Tickets are only $20! Youth must attend as a group with safe environment-cleared adults.

Bishop Farrell encourages all who minister to youth to take advantage of this opportunity to promote the Culture of Life through chastity education:

28 The Bishop’s 16th Annual Catholic Pro-Life Dinner, Hilton Anatole Dallas: Hosted by Dallas Bishop Kevin J. Farrell to benefit the Catholic Pro-Life Committee’s nine life-saving ministries. The evening will begin with a Silent Auction at 5:00 p.m. and a seated banquet at 6:30 p.m. Reservation price is $70 for an individual ticket, $700 for a table of ten, and $50 for a student ticket.
