Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College Host “College for Kids & Teens” Summer Program

(Santa Ana) --With summer right around the corner, many children and their parents are wondering how they are going to keep busy. During the summer when youngsters have more free time, it’s the perfect opportunity to learn something new, explore hobbies and meet new friends.

The Community Services Programs at Santiago Canyon College (SCC) and Santa Ana College (SAC) are each offering a “College for Kids & Teens” summer program that includes a variety of classes and camps, with something to please the most finicky of children and parents. Sessions begin on June 20 and run until August 18 with offerings tailor-made for children and teens, age 7 to 17. Some classes meet once while others have multiple sessions, but something’s sure to fit in every family’s busy summer schedule. Class fees range from $21 to $230.

“Our academic classes and recreational camps will challenge your child’s imagination, and bring out his or her creativity while learning and making new friends,” said Lithia Williams, Community Services coordinator at SAC.

SAC’s  summer selections range from acting to study skills, from self-defense to art, from computers and keyboarding to hip hop, from cheerleading to horsemanship, from music and singing to reading, writing and composition, and much more.  Children will enjoy SAC’s new camps, including Aquatics Camp, Golf Camp, Youth Basketball Camp, Soccer Camp, Wrestling Camp, and Newport Beach Sea Base Jr. Aquatics Camp. SCC’s offerings range from study skills to basic math, from Spanish to spelling, from keyboarding to piano, from Photoshop to watercolor, from website design to animation, from singing to forensic science, from chemistry to predator and prey and much more.
