New Session: New Beginnings!

The students stepped into the new academic session 2014-15, with new zeal and fervour to achieve greater heights and surpass their own previous best.

The first day of the new sessions was dedicated to 'New Beginnings'. As the name suggests 'New Beginnings' was about starting the new session with setting short term goals for oneself and making an attempt towards achieving them. The students penned down their goals for the coming months on a paper and then decorated it with drawings, glitter tapes, smiling faces and various figures.

The II and III graders made beautiful handouts with papers and wrote their targets on them. They took their masterpieces home to be put up on the wall of their room, a constant reminder of their monthly target.

The whole school oozed with optimism and chutzpah. There couldn't be a better way of starting the new academic session than this; so best of luck for the new beginning!

TGES Achievers

The Global Edgers try to excel at whatever they do and they develop this habit right from infancy. Ojasvi Goyal of grade KI exemplified it with her latest achievement. Ojasvi won the national prelims of PLAY2LEARN being conducted by Marrs Intellectuals Services Private Limited on 9th Mar 2014. We are all proud to have such gems with us at TGES!

Double celebrations at TGES!

Women's Day was glorious and memorable for the Global Edge family this year. Nizam Club felicitated the women achievers of the city of Hyderabad on account of Women's Day. Two members of the Global Edge family, our Director, Ms. Swati Reddy and our School Head, Ms. Ranjita Rao. K., were also recognized for their achievements and contribution to the society.

Ms. Swati Reddy and Ms. Ranjita Rao K. are a source of inspiration to the students for being good human beings. These women entrepreneurs are successfully functioning at different capacities in different organisation. They also make their bit to the society by engaging in many philanthropic activities personally and helping the students in doing the same. Keep the good work going; we are all very proud of you!

Picnic for Kindergarteners The kindergarteners had a fun filled day at Yogi Bear park. They went on a picnic with their class mates and teachers. The lush green lawns were too inviting to remain seated for long. Soon they started playing with their balls and other games like ice and water. The round of games came to an end with a break for snacks. The students attacked yummy lip smacking snacks and made it yummier by sharing it with their friends. The swings were the next. All the students played with their class mates on the swings. The jumped in balls pool and slid on the slides. Their energy levels were so high that they could have played for the whole day. While on the way back to school, after another round of snacks, they all dozed off to relive the day in their dreams.

Fancy Dress Competition for Kindergarteners

The enthusiast Kindergarteners came dressed in most alluring and myriad costumes for the fancy dress competition organised at TGES. To ensure a variety all the grades were given a topic. The topic for K I was 'Fairyland' and for KII 'My favourite Cartoon character'. The nursery students were allowed to come in the costume of their choice. The students were not judged on the costume alone. They had to speak about the character they were in. A jury of three judges, consisting of grade I and II teachers graded the students on the basis of their presentation. Ojasvi of KI was given the first prize. She looked quiet tempting, dressed as a chocolate tree in fairyland, with real Milky bars, Dairy Milk chocolate, Munch etc hanging around her. In KII we had students dressed as Ninja Hatodi, Doremon, Chota Bheem, Spiderman, Superman, Chutki, Dora, the explorer etc. The confidence with which they spoke made the job of the judges tough. All of them were overjoyed to see such unusual motley.

An inspiring rendezvous

The Globaledgers were privileged to have the Editor of The Times Of India (special affairs), Mr. Mir Ali Ayub Khan, with them for the first formal assembly of the new academic session. Mr. Mir Ayoob Ali Khan is a journalist with several years of varied professional experience. He is a political analyst and columnist writing on local, national and international affairs with focus on Muslim countries.

Mr. Mir Ali Ayub Khan being a very humble and down to earth person, started the talk very informally with a very brief introduction of himself. He described his experience in various countries, cultures and communities as a news correspondent and the lessons of life he learnt there. His vivid description of war prone countries like Afghanistan and Israel made the students inquisitive. Then he very patiently answered the questions of the students. Few intelligent questions put up by the students were: 'How a reporter contributes to the country and society?' `If you were not a reporter what would you have become in life?' `What qualification one should have to become a reporter?' etc..

The students were quiet satisfied with his answers and were brimming with joy and admiration for him. The day ended with Shreyas Srinivasan of grade X receiving the prize of the best student of the year conferred by The Times of India from him.

What a memorable ending of the inspiring rendezvous!
