The bathroom floor is marble, the worktop has two sinks with waterfall taps, and a large rectangle mirror on the wall with built in lights behind it. There is a stone bath in the corner of the bathroom. Dr Carter finishes brushing his teeth and turns his spotlight bathroom lights off.He then proceeds to exit his ensuit bathroom revealing his queen size four poster bed with fresh white sheets, readily made by his girlfriend and colleague AMELIA WOODS. The room has 55” T.V. fitted onto the wall. The room has a dark wooden floor with a cashmere carpet on the floor, in the corner of the room there is two modern sitting chairs in front of the T.V. The walls are painted in a grey colour to match the chairs and the bed frame. There is a large walk-in wardrobe filled with high-end clothes and shoes. He walks outside the bedroom and down the long corridor, down the spiral stairs and into his kitchen to see Amelia making breakfast. INT. Dr Smith follows behind as they both leave the house without talking to each other and travel in separate cars to their hospitals. INT. ST. JOSEPHINE HOSPITAL, CLOAKROOM – MORNINGAll the new interns are getting ready to start their shifts, DR STEFANI JACKSON is a straight Indian women, she knows she is very smart, she is quietly confident in her knowledge, she is originally from Canada. DR ALEXANDER CLARKE is a black working-class male. ALYSHA BAKER is also in the room getting her uniform ready, she is a 22 year old theatre nurse/ ODP, who assists Dr Carter in all of this surgeries.DR CLARKE:Morning, I’m Dr Alexander Clarke.DR JACKSON:Hey, I am Dr Stefani Jackson.DR CLARKE:So, where did you graduate from?DR JACKSON:I went to Harvard. How about you?DR CLARKE:Oh really. I went to North Dakota.Dr Jackson nods her head, knowing she may be in the top few people who went to an Ivy League university.DR CLARKE:So, which resident have you been assigned to?DR JACKSON:I’ve got Dr Andrews-Smith, what about you?DR CLARKE: Me too, have you heard the stories about her?DR JACKSON: No I have not, what’s been said about her?DR CLARKE:Apparently she is the worse resident to beassigned to. Everyone calls her Medusa.DR JACKSON:Why do they call her that?DR CLARKE:Because she’s the strictest resident, apparently she only shouts and gives us the worse jobs to do.All the interns have finished putting their scrubs on and are putting the final touches to their uniform together (putting their stethoscopes on, putting pens in their lab coats etc.) and waiting for the residents to enter to get their interns. DR JACKSON: That’s not very nice, I’m sure she’s not that ba- DR HENRY JONES bursts into the room late, an over-confident, white, upper-class gay man, who thinks very highly of himself. DR JONES:Sorry I am late guys!Dr Jones starts to talk to all the other interns in the room very loudly, visibly annoying them. DR CLARKE: Let’s hope we’re not with him, am I right?DR JONES:(shouting)Who else has got Medusa? Behind him Dr Andrews-Smith clears her throat behind him. His face drops and he turns around.DR JONES:Moring Dr Andrews-Smith! How are you today?DR ANDREWS-SMITH:Please, call me Dr Andrews. Sit down and wait for your name to be called to be assigned to your resident. Dr Jones sits down silently, some of the other residents come into the cloakroom and call out their interns names.DR ANDREWS:Clarke, Jones and Jackson! Come with me. All the interns follow after her and leave the cloakroom, she opens the doors to an operating room.INT. OPERTAING THEATRE – MORNING DR ANDREWS:Your surgical journey starts here, I hope you all make it to your surgical residency and can become the best surgeons you can be. DR JACKSON: (Whispers to Dr Clarke)She seems nice. DR ANDREWS: I have some rules for you guys: whenever I move you move as well, if I am ever in the breakroom do not get me unless a patient is dying, you will do the jobs I assign you and do not try to suck up to me, it will not make me think any more positively of you. In fact it will make me hate you more. One last rule. When I move you guys moveDr Jones opens his mouth to talk, however Dr Andrews’ pager buzzes and she runs off to the ER. Her interns run after her, all trying to be the first on there.INT. OPERATING THEATRE - MORNINGDr Carter and ALYSHA BAKER preparing for a surgical procedure, Dr Carter is scrubbing in whilst Alysha is setting up the equipment (scalpels, scissors, forceps, clamps, retractors etc.) DR CARTER:Morning Alysha, are you ready to start?ALYSHA:Yes, I will go get the patient now.Alysha leaves the operating theatre to collect the patient whilst Dr Carter finishes getting his surgical uniform on. He looks up to the surgical viewing room, where he sees a lot of interns piling in, wishing to be in his position. He sees Amelia and smiles up to her, she waves back down.INT. THE EMERGENCY ROOM – MORNINGThe interns are helping out with a patient who has just came in, the paramedics are handed her case over and Dr Andrews is explaining the case to the intern before they start to treat her. DR ANDREWS:Today we have a 17 year old female who has a suspected patella fracture. She has a temperature of 37°C, her pulse is 66 beats per minute, so all her observations seem to be normal. What’s the first thing you would do? DR JONES:I would page the surgical team to get an operating theatre ready or see when we could get her in. DR ANDREWS:Wrong. It is a suspected fracture. DR CLARKE:I would get an X-Ray of the patella first.DR ANDREWS: Good. Go do that now.Dr Clarke rushes off to sort an X-Ray out, Dr Jones stands to the side looking angry he got a basic treatment plan wrong. Dr Andrews goes off to talk to the patient and her parents, Dr Jackson rushes off behind her whilst Dr Jones is still visibly angry and unaware they have walked off.DR JACKSON:(whispering)Henry! Come on!Dr Jones is still not paying attention and does not notice they have started to walk away.DR ANDREWS:Jones! You move when I move. Come on. Dr Jones runs off towards them. INT. OR HALLWAY - MORNINGDr Carter and Alysha discussing a new case which has not long came into the hospital. ALYSHA:There is a new unusual case in today. We have a patient in ER, we do not know his name as he does not have anyone with him, nor does he have any ID on him, they suspect he has had a ruptured brain aneurysm which led to a subarachnoid haemorrhage. When he fell he hit his face so his face is very swollen. No one will recognise him. Dr Carter is quite annoyed no one thought of him to come and see the patient and help work on the case. DR CARTER:Why has no one paged me? ALYSHA: Dr Smith, Elizabeth’s husband has been brought from Oasis Neurological Hospital to take over the patient’s case as he is too unstable to be transferred to Oasis Neurological Hospital. I’m sure he will need your help and page you soon. Alysha tries to reassure him, she begins to walk off but turns around. ALYSHA:Actually Dr Carter, you should think more about the patient and less about yourself. Stop letting your ego get in the way. Dr Carter looks taken aback by her comments, however he knows she is right. Alysha walks off to go visit the new patient. INT. THE RECEPTION OF THE BUILDING – AFTERNOON Dr Navid Smith arriving at St. Josephine Hospital. Dr Smith is Dr Andrews-Smith’s husband. He has been sent over to this hospital to see a patient with a complicated case. Amelia is there to greet Dr Smith.Dr Smith is specialises in neurological surgeries, he is here to see a patient who has had a subarachnoid haemorrhage. AMELIA:Morning Dr Smith. I am the nurse on the patient’s case.DR SMITH:Morning Amelia. How is my patient doing?AMELIA: Not very well, the doctor on his case will brief all the information over to you when we get into the ER. INT. EMERGANCY ROOM IN SIDE ROOM - AFTERNOONThe two walk up to the unit together, they are then greeted by his wife, Dr Andrews, who is without any of her interns having sent them all to go and do bed rounds. INT. EMERGANCY ROOM - AFTERNOONDr Jones is currently reading someone’s notes, whilst Dr Clarke is talking to a difficult patient in the ER. The patient is a stable 18 year-old male who had recently had a seizure and been brought in by his mother. DR CLARKE:Afternoon, I’m Dr Clarke I will be looking after you whilst you are here today. PATIENT:Hey. DR CLARKE:So you passed out today?PATIENT:Yep I did.DR CLARKE:Have you ever fainted before?PATIENT:No this is the first time.DR CLARKE:Okay, I will get take some blood from you if that’s okay and check all your observations. The patient becomes visibly worried and slightly annoyed.PATIENT:I don’t like needles though. DR CARTER:Okay. It will only be a little scratch, you don’t have to look at it. PATIENT:I feel fine, honestly. I don’t need this. The patient tries to get up off the bed, his mother places a hand on him to push him back down.DR CLARKE:Even if you do feel okay, its best we check. You’ve never had a seizure before. It won’t hurt much, I promise. The patient looks at his mother then looks back at Dr Clarke. He realises he wants to talk to him alone. DR CLARKE:Would you mind stepping out for a moment? I’ll talk to him.The boy’s mother walks out the room, leaving the two alone. DR CLARKE:What’s the real reason you won’t let me take your blood?PATIENT:(hesitantly)Nothing, I’m just scared of needles.DR CLARKE:You are an adult now. Just tell me what the real reason is.The boy does not say anything. Dr Clarke opens his mouth to say something else to him.PATIENT:Fine! I took coke.DR CLARKE:You took cocaine? Why?PATIENT:I was at a party. Everyone was.Dr Clarke gets a needle out to check the patient’s blood. The patient lets him. DR CLARKE:I’ll be back with your results. You might want to tell your mother. I won’t be long. The patient nods. His mother goes back in whilst Dr Clarke takes the blood to be tested.INT. EMERGANCY ROOM SIDE ROOM – AFTERNOONDr Smith and Amelia walking into the patient’s room and see Dr Andrews working over the patient, checking eyes pupils for light sensitivity. DR ANDREWS:Ready for briefing?Dr Smith nods his head. DR ANDREWS:Okay, here we have John Doe, we do not know his identity ye. He came in around half an hour ago, he has been unconscious the whole time. We have put an oropharyngeal airway in to keep his airways open and connected an endotracheal tube to a ventilator as his oxygen was low. His eyes are slightly dilated. We suspect a burst brain aneurysm which has led to a subarachnoid haemorrhage. We are ordering CT scan for him, I think he will need to go down to the OR. I am going to page my interns so they can work on this case with you. Any questions?Dr Andrews talks to Dr Smith as if he is just another doctor, not her husband. DR SMITH:Will you be working on his case with us?DR ANDREWS: No. I will be only visiting to look over my interns.Dr Andrews picks her pager up off of her scrubs and walks out of the side room. INT. EMERGANCY ROOM - AFTERNOONDr Clarke returning with his results, a nurse is leaving the room having done all his observations. DR CLARKE:So, there was a very small amount of cocaine in your system, but everything else looks fine, so it looks like the small amount of cocaine had I large affect in your body so do not do this again. PATIENT:I will never do it again, I promise.DR CLARKE:I am going to discharge you. A nurse will come in to help you. Dr Clarke smiles at the patient as he leaves the room and a nurse comes in. INT. EMPTY HALLWAY – AFTERNOON The interns sitting on an empty, unmade hospital bed next to a vending machine on an empty corridor, having finished their bed rounds. Dr Jackson is reading a medical book, Dr Jones has his feet up, eating a snack. Dr Clarke is practicing suturing on a banana. DR JONES:What are you doing?DR CLARKE:I am practicing doing my sutures. What are you doing?DR JONES:(confidently) Nothing.DR CLARKE:Exactly.Dr Jones looks annoyed by his comment.DR JONES:Let me have a go. I’ll be better than you and I haven’t practiced in ages. Dr Clarke throws the banana at him. He catches it and Dr Clarke passes him the suture equipment. He begins to suture the banana, wonkily. DR JACKSON:(laughing)You need to do some more practice Henry. Henry opens his mouth to say something when all three get paged to go to the emergency room. All three run off to be the first one there.INT. SCANNING BOOTH - AFTERNOONCT scanner Dr Smith and Amelia are waiting for the patient do be done getting the scan, once the scanner has finished another nurse comes into the room to take the patient back to the ER. The patients scan pops up on the computer. After a few minutes of examining the scan, Amelia leans down to look closer to the scan and Dr Smith strokes her shoulder, affectionately. She is taken aback.AMELIA:I told you we can’t do this anymore. Your wife could be anywhere. DR SMITH:We don’t need to worry about her.He leans in however Amelia backs away and walks out of the room. INT. PRESENTATION ROOMThe room is full of staff waiting to discuss John Doe’s case. All the interns are there, standing behind Dr Andrews, Dr Carter and Alysha are there and other staff members. They are all waiting for Dr Smith to start discussing the care plan they are going to follow. Amelia rushes in and stands next to Alysha. She smiles at Amelia as she can see Amelia looks distressed and confused. Dr Smith also rushes in shortly after Amelia. Also looking confused. Alysha starts to look confused and questioning their actions. Dr Smith notices and smiles at her then starts his presentation.DR SMITH:Hello everyone, here we have John Doe, who has had a subarachnoid haemorrhage after his brain aneurysm burst, a type of stroke which has caused a bleed on his brain. A CT scan has confirmed this. We will need to do a craniotomy. In this procedure we will remove a small flap of the bone so I can access the brain. I will then place a small metal clip around the base of the aneurysm to seal it shut. I will then place the bone flap back and stitch it back together. This surgery is very risky, there can be a lot of complications: rebleeding, vasospasm, epilepsy, memory issues and more. So we will need to work hard to find his family. I will be asking one of Dr Andrews’s interns to scrub in on this procedure, I will make my decision on which one later today. Dr Smith will be overseeing her interns on this case. Amelia is a nurse on his case and I will be asking one theatre nurse to take the lead scrub role on this case. Who would like to do this?ALYSHA:I would.DR SMITH:Perfect, Alysha will lead the scrub team. Any questions? The staff all remain silent. DR SMITH:Okay. I will go and book an OR. He walks out leaving the interns looking very excited to scrub in and be apart in the first operation offered to the interns. We see Dr Jackson get a neurological book out to start reading up on the surgery, thinking she will be the one chosen as she feels she is the most capable to do this operation. Dr Clarke walks off calmly to visit the patient to see if he can try to gather any more information on the patient to see if he can contact his family. INT. CAFETERIA - AFTERNOONDr Jones walks off to the canteen to get Dr Smith a coffee and a muffin in hopes he will pick him.Dr Jones walking around the hospital looking for Dr Smith to try to get him to pick Dr Jones for the operation. He finds him sitting at a desk in the ICU looking at files.DR JONES:Oh there you are, I’ve been looking for you. Did you manage to book an OR for today? DR SMITH:Yes I booked one for later today. Why have you been looking for me is John Doe okay?DR JONES:Oh yes he’s fine, I think. Anyway I wanted to give you these. He hands over the coffee and the muffin to Dr Smith. DR SMITH:Oh. Thank you. Dr Smith smiles knowing he could get the interns to get him anything he wants. DR SMITH:Is that all?Dr Jones nods and walks away. INT. PATIENTS SIDE ROOM - AFTERNOONDr Clarke looking over John Doe and checking his notes. He checks the plastic bag which has the belongings he had when he came in, checking if there is anything he can identify him by. There is only some loose change and his jacket. He looks for the brand of his jacket, ‘Adidas’. He searches for Nurse Amelia to see if the police have been contacted.DR CLARKE:Has anyone contacted the police yet?AMELIA:I don’t think so.DR CLARKE:Why not?Amelia begins to say something but Dr Clarke cuts her off saying,DR CLARKE:Leave it I will do it.He then walks out the room to contact the police.INT. HOSPITAL LIBRARY – AFTERNOONDr Jackson is still reading books on neuro surgery, she gets up and goes on a computer and googles cases similar to the patients. Dr Smith walks in.DR SMITH:Hello are you one of Dr Smith’s interns?DR JACKSON:No I am Dr Andrews’s intern.DR SMITH:Yes, Dr Andrews-Smith?DR JACKSON:Oh. Yes, sorry I am. She asked us to call her Dr Andrews. DR SMITH:Oh it’s okay. What are you doing?DR JACKSON: I am just reading up on the surgery you will be preforming later.DR SMITH:Oh really, at least your just reading on it, Dr Jones brought me a muffin and a coffee earlier. Dr Jackson laughs. DR SMITH: Anyway, I will let you get back to reading.INT. ER – AFTERNOONDr Clarke is on the phone to the police. He puts the phone down and runs to find Dr Smith. He finds him further down the emergency room talking to Amelia. DR CLARKE:I’m sorry to interrupt, but I need to speak to Dr Smith. Dr Smith nods and walks over to him.DR CLARKE:I think I have found out his identity.DR SMITH That’s amazing! What do you know about him?DR CLARKE:Well his name is Walter Williams, he is 52 years old. He has a wife who is being informed that he is hospital. I think she will be coming in, I will contact the police again to check.DR SMITH:Good job DR Clarke. How did you find all of this out? DR CLARKE:I just called the police to see if anyone had reported anything, turns out the wife reported him not coming home a few hours ago. I looked at this clothes and they matched. I don’t know why any of the nurses on the case haven’t called before. DR SMITH:Oh okay. Well that’s great work Alexander!DR CLARKE:Thank you! Have you booked an OR yet?DR SMITH:Yes I will be taking him down later today. DR CLARKE:That’s good. I will be monitoring him until then.Dr Clarke’s pager buzzes. DR CLARKE:See you later Dr Smith. Dr Smith waves at him. INT. ER – AFTERNOONAll the interns are standing around a desk, Dr Jackson is writing notes, Dr Clarke is standing up reading over notes and Dr Jones is sitting down, playing with his stethoscope. He lets go of his stethoscope and it falls around his neck. DR JONES:So, who do you think will be chosen to scrub in and assist in this surgery?DR JACKSON:Not sure, I spoke to Dr Smith earlier when I was reading up on the procedure. He didn’t say who he would pick. Who do you think will be picked?DR JONES:I think he will pick me.DR CLARKE:What makes you think that?DR JONES:I bought him a muffin and a coffee earlier. Dr Clarke laughs.DR CLARKE:He’s not going to pick you just because you got him a muffin. DR JONES:I’ve been offering to help him all day as well.He picks his stethoscope up again and begins to play with it. He calls out to a nurse walking past carrying bed sheets and paper. DR JONES:Could you check on my patient in room 12 please? I think he will need some more painkillers soon. The nurse just angrily nods and walks away. Dr Clarke looks up from his notes. DR CLARKE:I’m sure she is quite busy, check on your own patients Henry. DR JONES:That’s what nurses are there for. DR CLARKE:They are not here to run after lazy doctors like you. You’re not doing anything. Go check your patient. Dr Jones scoffs and gets up.DR JONES:Fine. Dr Smith walks round the corner, having heard Henry ask the nurse to do this job for him. DR JONES:Hi Dr Smith!DR SMITH: Hello Henry. What are you doing?DR JONES: I am just going to check on a patient. Do you need anything?DR SMITH: I’d love a coffee. DR JONES:Sure!Dr Jones turns around to make him a coffee. DR SMITH:No, check on your patient first.DR JONES:(nervously laughing)Of course. Dr Smith looks at Dr Clarke and Dr Jackson, shaking his head at Henry’s behaviour. He then walks off. INT. PRESENTATION ROOMDr Smith has had to choose which of the interns to pick to scrub in and assist with his surgery.DR SMITH: As you all know, I have been looking for an intern to scrub in and assist in my surgery, I have been observing you guys to see which one of you deserves to be the first intern to scrub in. Dr Jones smirks as he feels that Dr Smith has chosen him.DR SMITH:I have chosen this doctor to join me in this surgery as I feel they have been the most considerate to the patient and his unusual case, trying the hardest to ensure he is stable, whilst also treating other patients. Dr Jones shifts his stance, realising he may not be chosen. He beings to frown slightly. DR SMITH:So, the person I have chosen is Dr Clarke. Well done Alexander. DR CLARKE:Amazing, tha- Dr Clarke gets cut off by HenryDR JONES:What? This is not fair; how didn’t I not get this surgery?! DR SMITH:Dr Clarke worked very hard today, he is constantly doing a job around the hospital, never sitting around asking others to do his job for him! He also found our patients identity and has had the man’s wife contacted. What have you done today Henry? Bought me a coffee and a muffin. This is not reason enough to get the chance to scrub in on this very complex case which requires a lot of attention and care.Dr Jones looks stunned and lost for words, he has just realised he has not been very caring or considerate the patient. After a few seconds Henry says,DR JONES: You are right. I am very sorry Dr Smith.DR SMITH:It is not me you need to apologise to. It is Alexander. You have stolen this milestone in his carer and made it about you.Dr Jones turns to Dr Clarke.DR JONES:Well done Alex. You deserve it.Dr Clarke smiles in return. DR SMITH: As much as you interns are competing against each other, you three are supposed to be a team, you do not have to fight against these two all the time Dr Jones.DR CLARKE:Thank you, Dr Smith. DR SMITH:You are very welcome Dr Clarke. I will see you in the OR.Dr Smith walks away, leaving the three interns. Stefani turns to smile at Alexander.DR JACKSON:Well done Dr Clarke!INT. JOHN DOE’S ROOMHis wife has just arrived, and Amelia has explained to her the situation and the plan of action. AMELIA:So, we will be taking him down for surgery very soon, I must warn you, the chance of death is high with this operation. But he will be in the best hands, Dr Smith has been brought in for this. He is the best neurosurgeon you can have.INT. OPERATING ROOM Alysha has just finished scrubbing in, she is now setting up all the needed equipment. Dr Clarke arrives in the scrub room; he waves at Alysha though the glass. She smiles and waves at him.ALYSHA:When is Dr Smith going to be arriving?NURSE:He has been paged, should be here soon.INT. HOSPITAL LIBRARY Dr Smith is walking around the hospital, looking for Henry Jones to apologise. He spots Dr Jones sitting at a table in the library reading a book with Dr Jackson.DR SMITH:Can I have a word please Dr Jones?Dr Jones looks up from his book and stands up, DR JONES:Yes, sure. DR SMITH:How are you Dr Jones, all good?DR JONES:Yes, thank you I am fine. Are you ready to operate?DR SMITH:Actually, this is what I wanted to speak to you about, I need to apologise for the way I spoke to you earlier. It was not necessary for me to talk to you like that. If I am being honest with you, it’s a very stressful time at the moment. Things are not the best with Dr Andrews. I am sure you could tell.DR JONES:No it’s fine Dr Smith. I think I needed to hear that to be honest. Not many people put me in my place like that. DR SMITH:Oh. I am glad I cleared this up with you. Could not go into surgery feeling like that.DR JONES: Of course not, Dr Smith. Is there anything else you would like to speak to me about? You can talk to me about your home situation, I will not tell anyone if you need someone to talk to. DR SMITH:Well, Dr Smit- I meant Dr Andrews has been very distant with me lately, she does not even go by Smith here at work. I do not know why she has become this way with me. It is now putting a strain on my work life as I am constantly worried about what is going on. She does not even speak to me in the mornings anymore, we do not travel together. I used to always drop her to the hospital, and we would be non-stop laughing together, but suddenly she has just become so distant and it is now pushing me away. DR JONES: She has been nick-named ‘Medusa’ here. DR SMITH:Really? Even people at work are catching up on her coldness and sternness. But with A-Dr Smith suddenly stops talking.DR SMITH:Sorry, I am rambling. That was unprofessional of me. I apologise for speaking to you like that earlier. I will see you later. Dr Smith rushes away, leaving Dr Jones shocked. INT. OPERATING ROOM Dr Jones and Dr Jackson walk into the viewing booth and sit next to Dr Carter and some other staff. Dr Smith has just finished scrubbing in as Alysha and Dr Clarke bring the patient in. The patient has already been put to sleep.DR SMITH:Right guys are we all ready to start? All the staff nod.ALYSHA:All the equipment is ready, just waiting for the anaesthetist to give us the all clear to start.DR SMITH:Okay.Amelia walks into the viewing booth, Dr Carter has saved her a seat at the back, but she walks past him and sits right at the front. She smiles down to Dr Smith. Dr Smith stares up at the viewing booth as the anaesthetist says they are okay to start. Dr Smith does not react he just stares up. Alysha notices. ALYSHA:(sternly)Dr Smith. He said we are okay to start.DR SMITH:Oh, right yes, thank you. Alysha frowns and looks up at Amelia, then looks to Dr Carter. DR SMITH:Scalpel please.Alysha hands him the scalpel and he starts the procedure. He makes an incision on the scalp and removes a small flap of bone. DR SMITH:Here Alexander, look. I am removing a small amount of bone from the patient’s bone to gain access to the brain. Dr Smith hands the piece of bone to Dr Clarke who passes it to Alysha. She sets it down in a surgical bone. Dr Carter taps Amelia’s shoulder.DR CARTER:Can you come with me please? She nods and leaves the viewing booth.AMELIA: What’s up, Lawrence?DR CARTER:Nothing, are you okay? You have been acting weird today.AMELIA:Yeah, I am fine, it has just been a stressful day with John Doe’s case.INT. EMERGANCY ROOMDr Andrews is overseeing the ER, she is currently playing with a patient. The patient is a 3-year-old young girl, who had been complaining of a headache for a few days. DR ANDREWS:So Mom, what has brought you in today?MOM:She has been complaining of a headache for a few days, I am not sure what to do to be honest. DR ANDREWS: It is best to bring her in to check. I will order a CT scan to check her brain. Although she has no signs of anything serious, it should be all fine. Is that okay?MOM:Yes that’s fine thank you.DR ANDREWS:Perfect I will see you two later. She smiles and walks out the room. INT. VIEWING ROOM Dr Jones and Dr Jackson are talking quietly in the corner. DR JACKON:What did Dr Smith want earlier? DR JONES:He apologised for the way he spoke to me earlier, then he just started rambling about his home life. It was strange. DR JACKSON:Really? What was he saying?DR JONES:Just how Dr Andrews was being really distant to him. Then he sounded like he was going to say but with someone else it is different. The name began with A. DR JACKSON:What? You think he is cheating on her?DR JONES:I don’t know. It’s not our business though. It is between Dr Andrews and Dr Smith. DR JONES:(jokingly)Unless A is someone we know. Amelia is listening to their conversation, despite them whispering. She turns around,AMELIA:Dr Smith would not cheat on Dr Andrews. You barely know him.DR JONES: Nor do you Amelia, didn’t you just meet him today as well?Amelia’s face drops slightly. AMELIA:Yes but I have spent all day with him.She turns back around and drops in her chair slightly.INT. ERDR ANDREWS:So the scan has came back all clear, the headache may have just been a lack of hydration. She is very active so drinking water may slip your minds. Just make sure she is drinking plenty as well.MOM: That is great, thank you Dr Andrews.DR ANDREWS:If that is all I will discharge you now.MOM:That’s all, thanks. Dr Andrews leaves the room to get the discharge forms. She gets a page from her interns to come to the OR.INT. ORDR CLARKE:More gauze, quickly Alysha. She passes him more gauze. DR ANDREWS:The brain is swelling too much. I am going to have to take more of the bone off. Alysha passes him the cranial drill. He begins to take a larger part from the skull off. They stop and check his observations. The patient stabilises.Dr Andrews enters the viewing booth. DR ANDREWS:What happened?DR JACKSON:Swelling. ‘To Build A Home’ by Ma Fleur begins to play as the staff sit in shock.DR CLARKE:Will he survive?DR SMITH:I don’t know. The room sits in silence, while Dr Smith works on the patient.Flatline noise begins.CUT to a black screen. ‘Next Episode’ plays giving a snippet of next week. ................
