FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Be an organ donor --Give your heart to Jesus.

At the heart of sin is the letter "I".

Life is a puzzle. Look here for the missing peace.

Friends don't let friends go to hell.

I am preparing to attend the Southern Baptist Convention in Dallas June 10th-13th. I have had many conversations with people about what is happening in the convention recently.

One of our Seminary Presidents, Paige Patterson, was terminated from his position at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary for his intentional hiding of an alleged rape at a previous institution. He also had counseled a woman to stay in a marriage to a man who was physically abusing her.

Our Executive Director, Frank Page, resigned over a "morally inappropriate relationship in the recent past." a search committee has been formed to find a new Executive Director.

David Platt resigned as the head of the International Mission Board to return to the full-time pastorate.

This year there are elections for officers in the convention., Ken Hemphill and J.D. Greear. Both are, as far as I know, fine men of God who will do well leading our convention for the next two years. This election falls in two divides that our convention is currently fighting. Traditionalism vs. Calvinism and the Old guard vs. the New. These two men are friends and have talked about the upcoming convention and the need for prayer for those issues.

"After speaking w/my friend @kenhemphill today, we'd like to call all Southern Baptists to act w/civility &

integrity toward one another & to join us in praying for the entity transitions ahead & for the upcoming #SBC18 presidential election," Greear, pastor of the Summit Church in RaleighDurham, N.C., tweeted April 5.

"In a phone conversation with friend @jdgreear we agreed to invite Southern Baptists to pray for leaders in transition, search committees, that our respective supporters will speak with grace and civility so we can leave Dallas revived, unified and focused on God's kingdom," Hemphill, an administrator at North Greenville University in Tigerville, S.C., followed April 6.

Please pray for our Southern Baptist Convention. Pray for myself and the others from our Association who will be in attendance.

NEW SMALL GROUP STUDY STARTS JUNE 24

God has given every creature He made a special area of expertise to fulfill its purpose. This is equally true of you and every other human being. You were uniquely designed, wired and "shaped" by God to do certain things. What is your S.H.A.P.E.? The word S.H.A.P.E. represents a specific characteristic of your life.

On Sunday, June 24, at 5:00 pm, we will begin a new DVD Small Group Study by Erik Rees, Pastor of SHAPE & Serving at Rick Warren's Saddleback Church. This will be a 6-week study about Finding & Fulfilling Your Unique Purpose for Life. David Penn will be leading the discussion group. Sign up on church bulletin board so we will know how many Study Guides to order. The cost is $9 per book & you may reimburse the church if you can. The books will be provided for everyone.

Great Youth Event!! Like last year the Clinton Youth "PULSE" will be here at Centennial leading the morning worship service on Sunday June 24th. We need homes that they can stay at on Saturday night. Please sign up to be a host family for the youth.

If God has blessed you, be a blessing to someone else. Some needs we have and ways we can give back the money God has given you.

Faith Maternity--Now through Father's Day. Please pick up a baby bottle and fill it up, empty it here at church and do the same thing again. You can also write a check for "Faith Maternity Care".

Camp Scholarships -- Young kids love camp but sometimes parents can't afford to send them. Help a young person come to Jesus or learn more about our Savior. Camps are in July so give generously!

Angel Tree -- It is not too early to consider giving for the presents at Christmas time that will be bought for children whose parent(s) is incarcerated. Instead of us purchasing gifts and giving them the Christian Ministries Committee will take the donated money & buy the gifts & wrap them. Please give generously between now and November.

OASIS will be a blast this month! Mark your calendars to go with the OASIS group on Thursday June 21st at noon to Amish Country for some sightseeing and shopping. Please let Lorna Biggers know if you are going. 573-581-1349. Taking the church van and anyone and everyone is welcome and invited to go.

FATHERS: Come and be our guest on Sunday June 17th and receive a special gift just for you. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
