PDF Black Hills Books Press (BHBP) - PR MediaRelease

Black Hills Books Press (BHBP) announced today that it will accept submissions for a series of publications to identify promising South Dakota authors and poets.

In 2016, Black Hills Books will accept submissions for five anthologies. Separate volumes will feature short stories, Dakota memoirs, stories from small schools, writing by young adults, and poetry. Submissions are open statewide, and BHBP encourages all South Dakota writers and poets to submit their best work.

Selected entries will be published in the anthologies, which are scheduled to be released in 2016. The anthologies will be available for sale by bookstores and other retail outlets, for library collections and for individual purchase in print and e-book versions.

"We are very excited about these anthologies and their potential. We hope to find unknown authors and new work by better-known authors statewide, and to encourage them in publishing their own individual work," said BHBP's editor-in-chief, Barb Evenson. "We know there are many fine writers who have not yet had the opportunity to be published, and we are very excited to see the submissions we receive. We also hope to identify authors who might publish volumes of their own as they learn more about how the publishing process works."

BHBP seeks to engage authors in the publication process and help provide them with tools they could use for their own individual publications. The mission of BHBP is to develop regional expertise in publishing, and to identify outlets, partnerships and collaborations to support literature in the region.

Generous support for this project has been provided by Backroom Productions Inc. and the South Dakota Arts Council.
