BACKGROUND: Because of the remoteness of our state, the public is advised to keep a disaster supply kit with 5 to 7 days worth of supplies at all times. During a hurricane, everyone in the state is advised to bring their disaster kit to the Hurricane Evacuation Shelter. Hurricane Evacuation Shelters are only intended to be a safe place to stay and will not have food or personal items on hand for Red Cross workers or residents.

DISASTER SUPPLY KIT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR VOLUNTEERS Last Revised 06/10

To ensure we are there for others in times of disaster, paid and volunteer staff must make sure they have prepared themselves and their family well in advance.
