Abstract
The principle reason for conducting this study to investigate the theory that music therapy has a positive effect on pediatric oncology patients undergoing chemotherapy. The effect that the researcher sought to investigate was the diminishing of anxiety whilst patients underwent music therapy, specifically live jazz. Patients’ heart rate and blood pressure were monitored during chemotherapy. One group (n=10) was given music therapy while the other (n=10) underwent chemotherapy as usual. In addition, the researcher gave both groups of children the same questionnaire to discern their own personal feelings. A t-test was conducted to evaluate the difference between groups.
