AP Biology Binder Set-up

You are required to have a 2 inch binder ( bigger is ok) for this class. It should be set up in the following way:

1. Cover of your binder should have your name and class period

2. Dividers with the tabs labeled as followed:

a. Syllabus

b. Class business: rules, notebook guidelines, safety contracts etc.

c. Guided readings

d. Class lectures

e. Practice Essays

f. Labs

g. Unit Reviews

h. Exams / Chapter Quizzes

i. Other activities

Everything in your binder should be in order by date and Unit. Everything we do in class will go in your binder, unless other wise stated. You will be responsible for turning in your binder at the end of every Unit. At this point you will receive credit for your assignments that belong in your notebook, as well as for having your notebook complete and organized.

Points:

• Guided Readings: You will receive a guided reading assignment for every chapter in the unit we are covering. Some units may have 5 chapters, others may have 3. Each guided reading by chapter is worth 20 points.

• Class Lectures: 10 points per chapter

• Practice Essays: 20 points

• Labs: will vary depending on the lab, on average will be about 50 points

• Unit Reviews: 50 points per Unit

• Exams: 100 points. There will be 60 multiple choice questions and 1 essay for every exam. Multiple choice questions are 1 point each. The essay will be worth 40 points. This breakdown of 60/40 represents how the AP test is broken down.

• Chapter Quizzes: At the end of each chapter there will be a 10 question quiz worth 10 points
