Advanced Placement

(AP Credit)

Clemson University strongly endorses

the AP program and consistently ranks

among top colleges and universities in

the nation in the number of students

reporting AP grades.

If you enroll in AP courses through your

high school, you¡¯ll have the opportunity

to take a national examination at

the end of the school year. When

registering for the exam, indicate if you

wish to have the final results sent to

Clemson University (CEEB #5111). The

exams are graded on a 1 to 5 scale,

and if you achieve a 3 or higher, you¡¯ll

receive the appropriate course credit

as outlined in the AP credit chart.

AP examination grades should be sent

directly to Clemson from the College

Board; specific information can be

found in the Academic Catalogs. You

will receive notification from Clemson

outlining any course credit that you will

receive through the AP program.

Be sure to include your Social Security number

when registering for AP exams. This will save

time and ensure that credit is automatically

awarded to your Clemson academic record.

Transfer Credit

Transfer students are defined as individuals who have earned a high

school diploma or an equivalent credential and have subsequently

attended a college or university in a full-time or part-time status during

a regular semester.

When applying to transfer into Clemson, candidates should:

1. Submit an online application.

2. Request final official transcripts be sent to the Office of

Undergraduate Admissions from each college or university previously

attended. You must submit official transcripts even if you do not

expect to receive credit for the work or if you withdrew prior

to receiving final grades.

Note: If you have been provisionally accepted, you must also arrange

for Clemson to receive updated transcripts for any additional

work you complete. A transcript that states ¡°issued to student¡± is not

considered official.

3. If you took college-level courses (dual enrollment) while in high

school, be sure to send official transcripts from the institution where

credit was earned.
