Online Textbook Access:

This year we will be using online textbooks in all social studies classes. Below are some directions and tips on how to access the textbook effectively. (Try clicking on the big long link under the textbook cover before you do anything else; it just might work.)

Accessing the Book

1. Open Mozilla Firefox internet browser (Internet explorer will not work)

a. If you do not have Firefox, go to this website () and download Firefox for FREE

2. Once you have opened Firefox go to the W-L Homepage ()

a. You will probably want to add this website as a bookmark

3. On the right side you will see a button for “Blackboard”, click this button

4. On the log in screen enter your school log-in

a. Username: Student ID

b. Password: Birthdate ex: 040785

5. On the Blackboard Homepage, you will see all of your classes on the right side, select your History class

6. If the textbook does not appear right away, there is a tab on the left side of your Class Page called “Textbook”, select it.

OR (and the OR seems to be more common this year)

• go to the top right and select the for students

• then select the social studies tab at the top

Tips

1. DO NOT PRINT:

a. You will not be able to select specific pages and it will print over 800 pages

2. If you cannot open the textbook it is because there are too many users already logged in. Wait 20 minutes and try again.

3. Bookmark the link/textbook.

4. SEE YOUR TEACHER IF YOU ARE CONFUSED OR NEED HELP.
