Native Americans of Texas Project

Objective: Students will research a Native American Tribe of Texas and create a POSTER over the tribe they draw out of the hat.

Your project will include the following information:

1. On the front YOU must draw and color something that represents the tribe you drew from the hat. It must have the name of the tribe printed neatly with some imagination.

2. INSIDE: Center Bottom: You will need to have a map of Texas that you may draw or print on the computer with the region of Texas where they were mostly found. Center Top: Print or draw a representation of the type of home in which they lived. On one side or the other, describe what life was like in this home, what it was made out of, and why they needed this type home.

3. UPPER LEFT SIDE: What type of food did they eat? How did they get their food? Pictures would help people understand what you are talking about.

4. On the rest of the left side and the RIGHT INSIDE flap, choose 2 of the following

a. Social – Describe religion, customs, and ideas that are specific to their tribe. Ex, Scalping, sun worship, etc.

b. Politics – How is the tribe organized? Who is in charge?

c. Economy – How does the tribe acquire goods and supplies?

d. Geography – Name and describe the region they are located in and how the region influences their tribe.

5. On the BACK, please write your name, teacher and date neatly in the upper left corner. DO NOT put anything else on the back.

NOTE

You will be graded on each of these sections so do your best. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE DUE DATE TO TELL ME YOU DON’T HAVE A COMPUTER OR THAT YOU CAN’T FIND ANY INFORMATION. I expect EVERYONE to have theirs on December 10.
