iPad - Education Foundation Grant RequestPlease indicate the dollar amount of your grant application: $1500__________. Number of students to benefit from request: 10 students immediately in our classroom, all of our future students, and hopefully many more in other programs once our data system is running effectively.Describe your request:We are requesting three iPad 3’s to use with our students for data collection, communication, and leisure. We work in the Life Skills program at *** School with students with moderate to severe disabilities. The iPad is proving to be an incredible tool for our students with disabilities. We were generously granted one for our classroom last year. We have used it to provide engaging, age appropriate, and educational leisure activities as well as to develop communication, social and language skills. Some of our students, who have gone their entire lives without a functional form of communication, now have a voice thanks to the iPad. We would like to expand on the use of the iPad and use them not only for communication and leisure but also to collect data and monitor student programs. We are currently working on a program that will allow all of our hard data to be taken on the iPad and compiled over time allowing us to generate critical reports that will be used to modify and track our students’ functional academics and behavior. We will be able to download our data onto our classroom computer and monitor it in one easy location. We both currently have an iPad of our own and one classroom iPad. Over time, we are hoping to get enough classroom iPads for each of our para-educators so we can use them simultaneously with our students. We have found that the iPad increases our effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity as well as our student’s quality of life. From experience with our own, we have found many of the applications available for the iPad allow us to quickly alter the level of material presented to individual students meeting their unique individual needs. The iPad has the potential to become an essential and cost effective tool for special education teachers and students. Detail your budget request.
