It is recommended that students borrow from the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan program prior to submitting a Graduate PLUS Loan application.

Complete Federal Loan Documents

1. The student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility for a Federal Grad PLUS Loan. File on-line at fafsa.. PTS School Code G03356

2. Complete a Federal Graduate PLUS Loan application on-line. Because the PLUS Loan is a credit-based loan, the Department of Education runs a credit check when the on-line application is submitted at . See “Obtain Aid” then “Apply for a PLUS Loan”. Contact the Dept of Education if you do not have access to the on-line application.

3. Federal Graduate PLUS Loan borrowers are required to complete a PLUS Promissory Note at

5. This Federal Graduate PLUS Loan Request Form authorizes the Financial Aid Office to originate a loan. Your loan cannot be completed without this signed request. This form is also used to comply with government regulations concerning over-awards to borrowers. When additional aid is received, it is the responsibility of the student to inform the Financial Aid Office.

PLEASE NOTE: Separate paperwork must be completed for a Federal Graduate PLUS Loan vs the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan.

PTS will automatically issue a Book Advance prior to the start of each semester. The student will repay the advance when the loan disburses. A student must be enrolled at least half-time and the loan approved ten days before the term begins to qualify. Check only if you wish to decline the advance.

To comply with regulations concerning over-awards, PTS must have accurate information regarding aid that you may receive during your Direct Loan period. Having current information lessens the risk and consequences of being over-awarded which could cause funds to be returned.
