August 25, 2014Dear Parents/Guardians:I am delighted that your child is in my math class this year. With your encouragement, your child will participate in and enjoy many exciting and rewarding experiences this academic year.Since lifelong success depends in part on learning to make responsible choices, I have developed a classroom discipline plan which guides every student to make good decisions about his or her behavior. Your child deserves the most positive educational climate possible for his/her growth, and I know that together we will make a difference in this process. The plan below outlines our roles, positive recognition for appropriate behavior and consequences for inappropriate behavior. They are:Rules:Be prepared and ready to work.Sit in your assigned seat.Follow directions the first time given.Be safe.Be respectful.Be responsible.Positive Recognition:To encourage students to follow these classroom rules, I will recognize appropriate behavior with praise, positive phone calls/notes home, PBIS tickets, and others to name a few.Consequences:If a student chooses to break a rule, however, the following steps will be taken:1st time - Verbal warning 2nd time - Student/Teacher Conference3rd time - Lunch detention and a phone call home 4th time – Office referralSevere Disruption - Office referralBe assured that my goal is to work with you to ensure the success of your child this year.
