ArkSci GCSE Science Study PackWhat is the study packStudents will acquire the key knoweldge and understanding required for their science GCSE exams by answering questions in this study pack. Students will then need to practice using this knoweldge by completing past papers. The study pack comprises questions written for each specification point for the new AQA GCSE science courses. Questions are followed by a ‘prove it’ exam question. Many pages also include a focus on a maths skill. There are individual pages for each required practical which also incorporate the apparatus and technique skills and the working scientifically skills. These booklets are organised into the big ideas so that students and teachers can identify where links can be made between current and previous content. The study pack is available as one combined science booklet or three separate booklets for triple science students.Conditions of useThis study pack should not be used outside of the Ark Network. Schools who use this pack must have an AQA Science Exampro subscritption. How could I use the study pack with my class?Top tips for using the study packStudents don’t automatically know how to engage with a study pack and they need to be taught. They also need the study pack to be familiar and for it to become a tool they get into a routine of using; with this in mind:Make sure students have a revision guide – CGP is good. First use the pack in lesson time alongside the new content students are learning to model best practice. After half-term, do not use the pack for new content as students can use these sections closer to the exam for revision.Use it in intervention sessions.Make it very clear when students are expected to have the booklet in lessons.Have a clear home work programme outlining what students need to have completed by when (see example below) and insist on a 100% completion rate.Below is an example revision plan leading up to the full paper 1 mocks in Autumn 2 covering all relevant topics that will be assessed in the exam.
