What are the AR Point Clubs?

What Does My Child Have To Do To Be In A Point Club?

Accelerated Reading Point Clubs start at 25 points, 50 points, 75 points, 100 points, 125 points, 150 points, and higher.

When children take an AR test, they must answer questions about the book they read. The computer scores their answers. Some books are worth 1/2 point, depending on the length or level of the book. If they answer all 5 questions correctly, they earn 1/2 (0.5) point. Some books have 10 questions. Some books are worth more than 1/2 point. The computers keeps track of all the quizzes taken and the score on each one. Teachers can run a report on the computer and see how a child is doing. How many points have they earned? Are they passing all the quizzes? What is their average on each quiz? There is a lot of information available from these reports.

Each month, I run a report to get the total points earned for each class and each child. When a student has read enough books and taken enough quizzes to earn 25 AR points, I announce their name. Their names are listed on the wall in the hall. The points continue to accumulate all year. The next year, we start over earning points. Once a child has tested on a particular book, they are not allowed to retake the test on the same book. Therefore, they must read different books each year.
