Who would be the audience for your media product?Within the stages for research and planning for my magazine, I identified the audience as being spirited teenagers who value life and culture who is looking for a magazine to unveil and nourish the ‘girly girl’ side of her that people never really expect. I wanted my audience to be predominantly older teenagers since pop magazines nowadays are often perceived as tacky and for small children/young teenagers, thus why I intended to create a media product which effectively appeals to older girls and is still a pop magazine in the midst of all the necessary conventions. In hindsight, having reviewed and analysed my final works, I will be considering whether or not the targeted audience remained, and who it may be more suitable for now. In my opinion, as the background colour of my front cover is white with splashes of bright and vibrant colours it is simplistic but is still exciting to look at and attractive to the eye if on a store shelf, perhaps. Therefore, my original intention to appeal mainly to only older teenagers did not work out exactly like that, instead it would apply to teens of all ages. Also, the magazine would not appeal to boys/males at all as it is very feminine-centric starting with the masthead. The masthead ideally sets the general tone for the whole magazine which is inclusive of a pink underline and a pink heart on the top whilst the font is black which shows that it is girly; the masthead is repeated in the contents page. As well as this, the celebrities mentioned on the front cover are those such as Zayn from One Direction and Ariana Grande and Little Mix and the font colours are mainly pink.41579803590925001642110374269000455266584262600-106989184870700-914400346878300Additionally to this, ‘class’ being a division of society based on social and economic status is an aspect of my audience I did not necessarily have in mind during planning this media product. However, through further research I have concluded that my magazine would appeal mostly to the Traditional Working Class to the New Affluent Workers Class through aspects such as a ‘step-to-step’ guide on becoming retro which by the image displayed beside it does not suggest something incredibly exorbitant, but simple and easy for ‘youngsters’ to understand which is why it would appeal to these particular classes. They would also be attracted to the promise of free ‘poster’ at the front of the magazine. Also, seeing what a singer wore in her music video wouldn’t appeal to the Established Middle Class/Elite as they most likely would not get their fashion ideas/inspirations from pop music magazines but rather high fashion magazines or other means. Lastly, the price of my magazine is a moderate and affordable ?3.99 which is perhaps too high for a magazine aimed towards a Precariat audience who have low levels of economic income thus would not have disposable income for leisurely magazines. And, as seen in the images, the more high-class magazines are significantly more expensive and ranging within the prices of ?4.30-?8.95 which is for people who have lots of disposable income like the middle class/elites. So, the targeted audience for ‘Viilea’ magazine essentially remains Traditional Working Class to the New Affluent Workers Class. ................
