Drivers have 60 days after the Declaration of Disaster is lifted toRenew licensesMedical cardsCertificationsOnly time in history DPS has allowed drivers to drive on expired credentials. Has allowed to School Bus Safety Class (8 and 20-hour) increase in class size to 50 per classStrongly encourages social distancing practices Training facility to accommodate larger numbers with social distancing (cafeteria, auditorium) DPS Driver Licensing offices begin to reopen June 3 – refer to map sent via emailOnly for drivers needing NEW licenses (CDL - never licensed before) By appointment onlyCan request appointment before local office officially opens. More information at “DPS Corner” Opening phases are fluid; if numbers spike, offices could close again, if necessaryCertification cards Enrollment and Certification District responsibility to continue to do training until driver has completed 20-hour course. Monitor when cards (all cards) expire. ESC Region 11 offers Compliance Training. Bus drivers are also entitled to receive information (IEP, BIP) for students with special needs who ride general education buses, not just special needs buses.
