About FBT & CBT-E Training + Expression of Interest FormAbout the Treatments Advanced Family Based Therapy (FBT) for Anorexia Nervosa. For children and adolescents with eating disorders FBT is has the greatest evidence for effective treatment. FBT is an intensive outpatient treatment, usually a minimum of 20 sessions over 1 year. This advanced workshop is geared towards clinicians with prior training in FBT. Topics to be covered include FBT for Bulimia Nervosa and ARFID, managing high expressed emotion, Eating Disorder presentation mid treatment, and managing a lack of progress.Trainer: Colleen Alford, highly experienced FBT therapist & Social Worker from the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network Eating Disorder TeamDates: July 23rd, and 24th, 2018Venue: Ballina Island Motor Inn Cognitive Behavioural Therapy- Extended (CBT-E). This is a trans-diagnostic therapy which can be used across the different types of eating disorders. CBT-E is an intensive outpatient treatment, usually a minimum of 20 sessions over 1 year There is strong evidence for CBT-E in bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder, and moderate evidence in adults with anorexia nervosa. CBT-E helps the individual understand their eating disorder, normalise their eating patterns, identify and change unhelpful thinking, and learn healthier ways of coping and relating to issues of food, shape and weight.
