Quarter 2 Argumentative Essay

18 November 2016

Center an Original Title Here

Use the “tab” key to indent your paragraph, and begin typing here. Do not double-double space between paragraphs. Remember to use the funnel method for the introduction; start with a hook, followed by general information about the topic, and then lead into the thesis statement about an aspect of the topics that will be the basis and focus for the essay. Consult the Argumentative Essay Outline for more information on the introduction format.

Use “tab” again and start the first body paragraph here. Notice the spacing between paragraphs. Don’t forget about transitioning at the beginning of paragraphs and within the paragraphs themselves! For the body paragraphs, be sure to use a combination of direct quotes and paraphrased/summarized examples for your text evidence, and cite your sources by the author’s last name or the title of the article at the end of the sentence (“Article title in quotation marks if no author is given”). Be sure you have at least two sentences of elaboration after each piece of text evidence. Do not make up page numbers or use paragraph numbers within your citation. Don’t forget about your counterargument and the refutation!

For the conclusion, be sure to readdress/review the points made in the essay that address the prompt. Write at least four sentences. Leave the reader with a strong final thought as the very last sentence. Again, review the Argumentative Essay Outline for how to structure the concluding paragraph. Your Works Cited page is the last page of your essay. Copy and paste the sources you use and keep them in alphabetical order. Be attentive to the spacing on the template.
