Regulated by Public Works and Transportation

BLOCK PARTIES (Residential) FORM ATTACHED; SEE BELOW LIST OF REQUIREMENTS

Neighbors wishing to block off their street for a block party may do so once per year per location. Consumption of liquor is not restricted; however, all Texas state laws must be observed (e.g. no public intoxication, no serving to minors, and public sales are prohibited). There is an eight hour limit. The Block Party application, attachments, and $40 fee must be submitted a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the event date:

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY: $40 fee (EXCEPTION: National Night Out) A roster indicating notification to 100% of the affected homeowners including a petition indicating at least 50% of the affected homeowners approving the closure (see page 3 of this application) Map showing the affected location with X's showing where the applicant will set up the barricades

Upon review and approval by the City Traffic Engineer, an approval letter including information on barricade delivery will be mailed to the applicant.

SPECIAL EVENTS/TEMPORARY OUTDOOR EVENTS (Residential and Non-Residential)

Special Events and Temporary Outdoor Events are events such as races, parades, runs or other gatherings that include partial street closures, amplified sound, or sale of merchandise, food, or beverages. Special Events and Temporary Outdoor Events are submitted to the One Start Development Center in the Department of Community Development and Planning (CD&P). CD&P is located on the second floor of city hall. Once the application is complete, CD&P will distribute it to the various review departments within the city.

Special Events and Temporary Outdoor Events must be submitted at least forty-five (45) days prior to the event. The application must be accompanied by a payment in the amount of $150. The following is a link to the Special Events and Temporary Outdoor Events permit:

A proposed event route map or a traffic plan must accompany application. For race/walk events, a site plan of the start/finish area is also required. "Green" practices with regards to trash and recycling must be implemented at Arlington events. Barricades must be provided by the event host.

If the event will occur on a Park Property, including Founder's Plaza, the applicant will need to request the appropriate permit from the Parks & Recreation Department. Contact Parks at 817-459-5474 for more information.

Depending on the location and activities you're planning to host, additional permits may be required.

Note: At the discretion of the City Traffic Engineer, closure requests will typically be denied for a street that is classified as an arterial, collector, or functions as a residential collector, unless there are other feasible alternative routes. If approved, security may be required to manage access at the expense of the requestor.
