Welcome to the, Small Arms Trainers Course (SATC) Proof of Principle, hosted by Task Force Cold Steel (TF CS). The following information will assist you to plan your arrival at Fort McCoy, WI. You will receive additional detailed information after you arrive. Course Scope: The Small Arms Trainer Course (SATC) is a 14 day course designed to train-the-trainer. A small arms subject matter expert (SME) is an institution-trained and certified SME on direct-fire weapons, weapon systems, ammunition, maintenance of weapon systems, range operations, and weapons training programs. Students will be immersed into a high pace and stressful atmosphere where they will be tested physically and mentally in a classroom and field environment. By doing this, the course equips graduates with the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to successfully operate as a Small Arms Trainer. All MOS’s and NCO’s/ E5-E-7 can attend this course. Students will move through three phases of training IAW applicable TC’s and TM’s. Orders and Travel (Defense Travel System authorizations)(a) Ensure that orders state: “Report to Fort McCoy, WI.” not “Report to Tomah, WI.”(b) All DTS transactions are completed by the student and approved by the Unit. (c) Travel.(1) All flights should arrive and depart at the Lacrosse Airport (LSE). SATC staff will pick up and transport students to Fort McCoy by van. If Students fly in to any other location (ex. Madison WI, or Minneapolis, MI) it is the unit’s responsibility to get the student to Fort McCoy, WI. (2) All students report to building 1760 no later than (NLT) 2000, Sunday, 16 JUN 19. If delayed, please contact the SATC at (608) 388-4645 or (414) 807-6878. (3) Do not make plans for departure prior to 0600 on 29 JUN 19. The shuttle to La Crosse will leave for flights at 0300 on 29 JUN 2019. Students driving home will be released at 0600 on 29 JUN 19. Movement plans outside of this guidance require approval from the TF CS Commander or Sergeant Major. (d) Meals. Provided at the dining facility or MREs on the ranges/training areas at no cost to the. Students must show Military ID (CAC) and orders.(e) Quarters. All students are billeted in Building 1710 (open bay barracks) at no cost to the student. Building 1710 has bunk beds with mattresses; pillows are provided. Students bring their personal sleep system or linen (pillow case, sheets for a twin bed).Send a copy of travel itinerary to and from McCoy NLT 14 JUN 19 to TF CS at usarmy.usarc.84-tng-cmd.list.ocs-fy18-s3@mail.mil. Failure to do so may result in delays of airport pick-up.Upon reporting on 16 JUN 19, students must have ID tags, military ID card, military driver’s license, civilian driver’s license, a copy any current military medical profile or civilian equivalent (if applicable), and three (3) copies of their orders. Students are required to carry one copy of their orders at all times while on Fort McCoy. Troop Medical Clinic. Medical services are not available on Fort McCoy. All medical emergencies or routine treatment are sent to Tomah Memorial HospitalPhysical Toughness. While attending this course, you will be required to wear a helmet, body armor, and load bearing equipment; wear a protective mask; move items greater than 40 pounds while wearing usual protective gear (helmet, body armor, LBE); ride in a military vehicle wearing usual protective gear; carry and fire individual and crew served weapons. Medical Profiles. Students with a profile, (Military or Civilian equivalent) must provide a copy of the profile at the time of in-processing. The Chief Instructor / Course Manager screens profiles for compliance with the physical requirements of this course. As long as a student can safely meet all of the physical requirements of the course he or she will not be denied enrollment due to a temporary profile (or statement from a civilian physician). Students be removed from the course if they receive a temporary profile during the course. Dismissals/Termination of Enrollments. The TF CS Commander or Sergeant Major may remove a student before course completion. Reasons include (but are not limited to) disciplinary problems, lack of motivation, illness/injury that prevents the Soldier from meeting physical requirements, inappropriate personal conduct, or failure to live up to the Army Values. Counseling. The instructor counsels students during SATC. Records of all counseling sessions are maintained in the student folder. Counseling is to inform the student of expectations for discipline and academic performance. Students are required to complete and sign form DD 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms or Ammunition.Physical Training. The training schedule does not include time for organized PT. Students are responsible for their own fitness program when time permits. Fort McCoy’s Gym is located in building 1122. Proper workout attire is required.Student Feedback. Feedback is provided by after-action reviews (AAR). Students evaluate instructors and the Small Arms Trainer Course. Because this is a Proof of Principle, this course will involve more frequent and in-depth evaluation than a normal class. AARs are not be conducted as critiques; rather, they focus on meeting Army standards and conducting a safe, efficient course.Uniform and Appearance. Your appearance is a reflection on America’s Army Reserve. Wear your uniform properly at all times. The duty uniform for all personnel is Class C ACU, the universal or operational camouflage pattern is authorized. Personal appearance in grooming, facial hair, haircut and jewelry must conform to AR 670-1. Refer to the packing list for detailed items.Mail. Not accepted do to the short duration of the course.Laundry. Facilities are available free of charge on Fort McCoy.Internet. Wi-Fi is available free of charge in the lobby of Building 50 and at McCoy’s community centerStudent Records. Instructors maintain student files, which contain the following required documentation:(a) Copy of permanent profile (if applicable). (b) Counseling records. (c) Academic evaluation sheets.
