This policy does not apply to regional or national AAC activities as an AAC policy already exists for this purpose. Refer to PPI for details. This policy has been implemented for the protection of all cadets in the unit. In this day and age it is all too easy for an image to end up on social media without the permission of the cadet. As such this policy is strictly enforced. The following constitutes a 131ACU activity;Unit paradesUnit bivouacs and campsANZAC Day paradesRemembrance Day servicesTravel to and from regional activitiesSenior expeditionsAttendance at public memorial or dedication services.Any other formed body as deemed by a 131ACU staff member. No cadet shall have in their possession whilst attending an activity any form of electronic device. For the purpose of this policy a cadet includes;CDTRECCADETCDTLCPLCDTCPLCDTSGTCDTSSGTCDTWO2CDTWO1CUOSome examples of Electronic devices are listed below;Mobile phoneIPodsMP3 playersMP4 playersIPadsLaptop ComputersTabletsCameraVideo recordersGame consolesThe above list contains examples only and by no means is exhaustive. If you are in doubt refer to the OC for clarification. On arrival at an activity all electronic devices will be placed in the unit supplied receptacle (orange plastic container) by the cadet. The cadet places the device in the container at their own risk. The unit is not responsible for the device in any way. If the cadet is worried about the security of the device they are to be told to leave the item at home in future. It is the responsibility of the senior cadets to ensure that all cadets are aware of this procedure. The receptacle will be locked in the armoury for the duration of the activity. If a cadet is expecting an important call, the cadet can ask one of the ACS to look after their phone until the call is received. The phone is at the cadet’s risk whilst in the possession of the ACS member. The phone can then be locked away after the call has been received. Once the activity is completed the cadet can retrieve their electronic device after dismissal.Photographic devices (cameras, video recorders etc) are deemed an electronic device, there are certain times that it is acceptable for these types of devices to be used whilst on an activity. The use of photographic devices will be supervised by ACS at all times. When not in use the photographic device will be locked away in the armoury or in the possession of an ACS member.A cadet who is found to have an electronic device in their possession will be treated as breaching this policy and will be dealt with through the AAC discipline policy. This could end up with a formal warning in the first instance and discharge for multiple or serious breaches.
