NEW DATE!!! Nubble Light House Finishing Class

Saturday, November 13, 11am – 4:30pm

Instructor: Judy Viviano; Class Fee: $30 CLASS LIMIT: 12

Pull out your Nubble Light House Stencilscape you made in Jackie Paton’s class (it should be dry by now!) and come spend the day with Judy to complete your project into a lovely wall hanging quilt. Judy has redrafted the directions so they are paper-pieced for ease and accuracy, PLUS she has added a special design element! Don’t know how to paper-piece? No problem! That’s what Judy is there for!

This class is only available for those who have previously taken Jackie’s Nubble Light Stencilscape Class.

Please note this class is NOT to make the painted top portion of the quilt.

NEW!! Paint a Landscape with Wool Roving

Saturday, November 13, Noon – 4pm

Instructor: Lyn Slade; Class Fee: $40.00 (includes background wool, roving, mat, backing & plastic sleeve)

Work with wool roving to ‘paint’ your own landscape, as we layer from the background forward to develop a wonderful work of art. There will be 52 shades of roving to choose from for your 8”x10” landscape which will be completed in class, matted and ready for framing. No needle felting or painting experience is necessary.

Beginner Punchneedle Embroidery

Saturday, November 13, 1-4pm

Instructor: Janet Martin; Class Fee: $45.00 (includes kit for 6 pins)

Join in the fun and learn Russian Punchneedle Embroidery, a very old craft with a huge new interest! The basics of punchneedle will be covered including threading the needle, ‘hooping’ your project, punching techniques and finishing tips. The class kit includes the patterns and threads to complete six great pins!

Beginner Needleturn Hand Appliqué

Sunday, December 5, 10am – 4pm

Instructor: Karen Pessia; Class Fee: $50.00 (includes kit)

This class is for those with no experience in appliqué. Karen will cover all the basics using the ‘freezer paper on top’ method. She will cover the basic techniques of bias stems, outside curves, circles and points along with some basic embroidery to embellish and finish off your appliquéd piece.

What a great, relaxing way to spend a few hours of your afternoon! We have a wonderful project planned for you, as well as tea and a tea-treat to enjoy. Come for a casual time to meet others and make a few fabric folded pins and ornaments! The best part about our Craft-Tea Times is you don’t have to prepare or bring anything! All the materials, supplies and pattern are provided for you at no additional cost!

Craft-Tea Time is on-going and will be offered periodically with new projects each time!

NEW DATE!! 3-D Needle Felted St. Nick & Sheep

Learn the art of 3-D needle felting as you create your own St. Nicholas and his trusty sheep. Nick has curly roving hair and tiny jingle bells for buttons, while you will learn how to fashion your sheep with armatures for posing. They will adorably adorn a corner of your Christmas decorations! All levels of experience welcome.

Beginner Invisible Machine Appliqué

Learn how to appliqué by machine with an invisible zigzag stitch! You will work with a foundation material and prepared edges. You will be amazed at how quickly you can master this technique. This is a class with the beginner in mind, but all levels are welcome. What a fun way to do appliqué!

Know Your Janome 6600 Sewing Machine

Do you own a Janome 6600? Would you like to learn more about your machine and take the mystery out of its features? Learn the basics and then go on to make a button hole. Apply cording, work with the alphabet, the memory, fancy stitches and even touch on machine quilting with a darning foot.

Please note this is a new, additional date as the Nov. & Dec. classes are full.

As you stencil (on fabric!) this charming New England winter scene with a barn nestled amid the snow drifts and sheep in the snowy pasture, you will want to head north!! Anyone can achieve this project. There is no artistic ability necessary to learn Jackie’s stenciling technique! You will complete the center painted portion in class and receive the pattern to complete the borders (or just leave it as is and frame it!).

Machine Quilting 101

Sunday, February 20, 10:30am – 3:30pm

Instructor: Lynn Thibault; Class Fee: $40.00 (plus book)

Do you have UFO’s stacked in a corner because you have reached the point of quilting them? Lynn will take the fear out of machine quilting as you learn how to prepare your quilt for quilting, relax, breath and machine quilt with your basic in-the-ditch stitch and then move on to learn a variety of free motion quilting designs.

Beginner Piecing & Beginner Quilting

Two Sessions: Sunday, March 6 & 13, 10am – 4pm

Instructor: Lynn Thibault; Class Fee: $75.00 for both sessions (pattern included)

Create a beautiful table runner to match your décor or give as a gift. The first class will teach the basics of using your rotary cutter and ruler and piecing with an accurate ¼” seam. The second class will have you machine quilting your project and adding the binding. Lyn always has MANY tips to add along the way for perfection.

Appliqué Club

Third Saturday, 1:30 – 4pm

Instructor: Karen Pessia; Club Fee: $17

Do you love block-of-the-month programs but feel a bit intimidated by it all? Or do you just want to brush up and perfect your appliqué skills? Karen is available to help participant’s conquer their fear of appliqué.

This is an opportunity to bring whatever appliqué project you are working on and have one of the finest appliqué teachers available to help you improve your skills.

(Please note this club is not being offered at a beginner level.)

Wool Arts Club

Second Wednesday, 6-9:30pm

Instructor: Diane Daniels; Workshop Fee: $15.00

A monthly open workshop held the 2nd Wed. to help you complete your wool projects. Diane will help problem solve, teach finishing techniques, and see you to the end of your project. Rug hooking and wool work included.

These sessions are not for beginners.

You are invited to come and sew to your hearts content in our classroom space! We have set aside every Tuesday and Thursday for independent, uninterrupted, creative sewing!! Drag out those UFO’s, get inspired to begin something new, finish a holiday gift, or just plain relax with other quilters. Gather some friends and meet at our place! Space is limited so please call in advance to reserve yours.

Baltimore Album Workshop

Third Saturday, 10am – 1pm

Instructor: Karen Pessia; Workshop Fee: $20.00/workshop Workshop Limit: 10

Karen has put together an ‘open studio’ the third Saturday of each month for Baltimore Albums. The patterns would be from Elly Sienkiewicz’s book, Baltimore Elegance (required for workshop). She will help you select your blocks, the size of them and also help with fabric selection. From there you would work on your own specific block of choice while Karen provides how-to’s for each block and demo some 3-D flowers or embroidery.

Quilts of Valor Sew In

First Friday Each Month, 10:30am – 2:30pm (no charge)

Join us to donate your time and say “Thank You!” to our local service members by making patriotic quilts for them. Bring your sewing machine and stitch the day away. Please call The Quilted Crow ahead and let us know you’re planning on coming. Donations of 12 ½” red, white and/or blue blocks are also welcome. Patterns and fabric will be provided.
