The Arts in Storefronts Artist Contract

ART IN STOREFRONTS

ARTIST CONTRACT

[Name of artist] agrees to participate in Art in Storefronts Chinatown, which is a unique pilot program that will temporarily place art in storefront windows to celebrate San Francisco’s neighborhoods and commercial corridors. Art in Storefronts is a project of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD), San Francisco Arts Commission (SFAC), Kearny Street Workshop (KSW), Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC) and Chinese Culture Center (CCC).

The Artist agrees to the following:

← To adhere to your project proposal, which was the basis for your selection. Significant changes to your proposal must be coordinated with the Project Manager.

← Cover your window in brown paper so that the public may not view the installation until the opening launch event.

← To attend the mandatory artist orientation May 17, 2010.

← To have your installation completed and ready to view by June 11, 2010, the date of the launch event.

← To attend and participate in the launch event, which may require film footage and press interviews.

← Provide information to the organizers as requested for press, website and outreach.

← To be available for a panel discussion among Art in Storefronts artists, organizers, and property owners. Date of panel TBD.

← To maintain your installation should anything change the original condition during the course of the project, June 11 – September 15, 2010.

← To receive a stipend of $500 per installation. Artists collaborating on one installation will share the stipend and not be paid individually. You will receive an initial $250 payment with the additional $250 funds to follow once the installation is complete. There is no additional funding available for the project so any remaining costs for materials will need to be paid for by the artists and not reimbursable.

← To remove all artwork and personal supplies in a timely manner after the project ends on September 15, 2010 and before September 30, 2010.

Art in Storefronts Project Manager is the contact for you on this project. Make sure all contact information has been properly exchanged. Project Manager will help to do the following:

← Present a clean window for your installation by May 7, 2010.

← Review work and see that you are sticking closely to your proposal and help you problem solve as you more forward.

← Secure keys or schedule hours of access with the property owner.

← Provide window signage.

 Insurance:

The property owners, San Francisco Arts Commission and Office of Economic Workforce Development will be provided with additional insurance by Kearny Street Workshop during the full term of this Agreement from May 1, 2010 or the start date of the installation through de-installation on September 30, 2010 in the following amounts and coverage: Commercial General Liability Insurance with limits not less than one million dollars ($1,000,000) each occurrence. Combined Single Limit for Bodily Injury and Property Damage, including Contractual Liability, Personal Injury, Products and Completed Operations. The Commercial General Liability Insurance will name as additional insured the City and County of San Francisco and its officers, agents and employees.

Artwork installations created by the artists for Art in Storefronts are not insured by Kearny Street Workshop, the San Francisco Arts Commission or any of the presenting organizations. We highly recommend that you purchase outside insurance.
