A-Level Fashion/Textiles planning and check listThis is not a strict list and can be adapted. It is only a guide to help you develop your work and ideas, to plan your time wisely and work more independently!!!You need to write down what you are working on each week by filling in the ‘week beginning’ column, this will be what you are doing both in class and for homework. Your teacher will also conduct 121 tutorials where you will be expected to explain where your work is going.Week beginning.WHATTO DO HOWTO DO ITCommentFFAssessment Objective 3.1Write Brainstorms /Mindmaps showing your thoughts about your chosen starting point.Produce a sheet with the project theme as a title and 10 sub-headings – mindmap /brainstorm etc.Add 15+ words to each sub-heading. Use research to apply imaginative, factual and personal responses to the sub-headings.Choose the best 4 sub-headings and using a different coloured pen scribble down what you may do for the ideas you have. Assessment Objective 3.2Collect and present objects and/or images connected to the theme of your project.In your sketchbook, glue 20 images of objects, people and places for each of your titles, sub-headings and words.Take your own photographs of objects, places and people connected to the theme and present these as evidence of your research.Create a “Mood board” collage showing 24 of your BEST images connected to your spider charts mounted on A3 paper or in your sketchbook.Collect and present magazine pictures, postcards, leaflets, brochures connected to the theme and present on 1-2 A3 sheets or in your sketchbook with comments to explain how these connect to the theme.Assessment Objective 3.3 Make observational responses from sources connected to the starting point. Each one must show a clear development from the decisions and opinions you have made from your research into your chosen designers or Textiles artists and also the reasons behind their work.REMEMBER – combine the ideas you have gained from each contextual source.Assessment Objective 2.1Create with your own artwork in response to the theme.Make drawings of 6 further ideas based on your visual research, experimentation and connected to the work of your researched designers or Textiles artists, which stem from 2.1. These can be as large and as sketchy as you want.Create an A3 page for each of your ideas showing further experiments based on all the work you have done so far for the project.Assessment Objective 2.2Create your own range of ideas and fabric/design developments in response to your research from 1:1 - 2:1 and 3:1-3:5 (LINE, TONE, SHAPE, FORM, SPACE, COLOUR, TEXTURE, PATTERN are all important)The following are directions you could take your ideas in:Printmaking Constructed textiles;Dyed textiles;Printed textiles; Fine art textiles;Fashion textilesAssessment Objective 2.3Experiment with your own designs in response to your research(LINE, TONE, SHAPE, FORM, SPACE, COLOUR, TEXTURE, PATTERN)LINE – experiment with string, wire, rope, monoprint, pen and ink, biros to explore each of your ideas fully.TONE - experiment with mixed textiles media, single colour textiles in relief, Single colours with white, greyscale to explore each of your ideas fully.COLOUR- experiment with monochromatic/polychromatic/ harmonious/ complementary/ warm/cool colour schemes in ink, fabric dye, crayons, pens, textiles to explore each of your ideas fully.TEXTURE - experiment with rubbings, collagraph, relief work, paper lamination, mark-making in threads, 3D shaped textiles, latex, to explore each of your ideas fully.PATTERN - experiment with repeat, symmetry to explore each of your ideas fully.Assessment Objective 2.4Experiment with and develop your BEST idea Choose your favourite idea and experiment with the arrangement of the different parts.Experiment with the different materials you intend to pare different colour-schemes.Assessment Objective 2.5Annotate your work.Label all experiments to explain what you have done and why.Explain the reasoning behind the choices you have made.Cite the artists who have influenced your work and explain how.Assessment Objective 4.1Make a successful planning sketch for your final piece.The planning sketch for your final piece is the result of research into the ideas and techniques of other artists.The planning sketch for your final piece is the result of observational recording from real life and other sources.The planning sketch for your final piece is the result of considerable experimentation with materials.You have labelled all parts of your planning sketch with detailed explanations showing your decisions and reasoning.Assessment Objective 4.2Use all the knowledge, skills and understanding that you have developed during the previous three Assessment Objectives to complete a high quality personal response to the theme in 2D and/or 3D.AS – 5 hour extended study in march.A2 - 15 hour final outcome in may.The final piece is the result of research into the ideas and techniques of other Designers and Textiles artists.The final piece is the result of observational recording from real life and other sources.The final piece is the result of considerable experimentation with materials.Your sketchbook work is FINISHED before you start your final piece.The final piece shows clear links with your sketchbook work. ................
