| |In recent years, and particularly the last year, our industry has seen a number of large containerized cargo fire losses. Their |
| |severity and frequency is only set to increase, as the containerised shipping sector moves towards ever-increasing vessel size and|
| |aggregation of volume and value on board vessels and at terminals. Certain containerised cargoes are inherently at risk of fire |
| |and explosion. In the event of fire or explosion, there are practical challenges facing those on the ground. In line with |
| |relevant regulations, there are a number of loss prevention steps to be taken by cargo owners and shippers in order to best |
| |mitigate the risks. However, the question remains how can we best work together as an industry to tackle this issue? |
