Position Description

Job Title: Assistant Director of Residential Operations

Department: Operations

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Residential Operations, the Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Residential Director with overall program safety, training, and management.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Assists in providing oversight and management of service areas assigned, including; PRTF and Level III. Provide ongoing professional development, risk management, and assist in leadership training to all PRTF and Level III staff. Ensures compliance with licensure, accreditation and agency standards and policies.

2. Manages and supervises staff training to residential operations including cottage supervisors. Assist in staff hiring, supervision, and performance evaluations. Participates in the development and implementation of training for staff assigned to service areas. Works with cottage supervisors to ensure appropriate and adequate staff coverage at all times.

3. Works in close collaboration with Residential and Clinical Directors to ensure teamwork and communication between cottage supervisors and direct care staff. Is an active member of the PRTF and Level III referral meeting. Attends weekly team meetings on a rotating schedule.

4. Provide oversight and management of the RISE program. Ensures timely recruitment, selection, training and professional development for the RISE interns. Participate in the on-going evaluation and development of program components and recommend programmatic changes to enhance the professional experience of the RISE interns.

5. Provide, plan, and participates in training of residential staff and provides overall crisis management support to all program supervisors.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Assists in the preparation of budgets assigned to PRTF and Level III. Ensures monitoring and adherence to annual budgets and utilization goals. Serves on agency’s Expanded Leadership team.

2. Ensures compliance with licensure, accreditation and agency standards and policies through participation in the agency’s PQI processes.

3. Displays competence and responsiveness to cultural differences present in both consumer and employee populations.

4. Performs other related administrative and management tasks as assigned by the COO.

Reporting Relationship:

Position reports to: Director of Residential Services

Position supervises: RISE Interns

Qualifications

Knowledge: A master’s degree in human services field is strongly preferred. This position requires knowledge of service delivery and behavioral management in behavioral health services. Applicants must meet be a Qualified Mental Health Professional.

Experience: A minimum of five years experience in the delivery, supervision, and management of behavioral health services and programs is required. Experience in the agency’s service delivery is preferred. Experience in a residential setting is required.

Skills: Must possess a valid NC driver’s license and insurability by the agency’s insurers. Work hours will include nights, weekends and holidays. Extensive on call responsibilities. Requires ability to implement restrictive interventions. Position may experience verbal and physical aggression from the consumer population.
