Each chapter is a member of one of our three governing councils, Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council and Panhellenic Council. This position will be primarily responsible for assisting in the administration of a high quality Greek Life program, advising council and chapter officers, facilitating appropriate programming, and ensuring the effectiveness of Greek leadership in maintaining a positive undergraduate fraternity or sorority experience for each member.EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVESThe Graduate Intern/Assistant, under the work direction of the Greek Life Advisor, will assist in enhancing student leadership and development among Greek students and the three Greek Councils on campus. The length of time of this appointment will begin in Fall and conclude in Spring. The Graduate Intern/Assistant will be evaluated twice during the appointment for the purpose of providing him or her with feedback on observed growth and learning. The Graduate Intern/Assistant will have the opportunity to develop the following leadership skills: leadership program development, interpersonal skills, communication skills, facilitation skills, advising skills, and event planning skills. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssist with the advising of council officers of one of the Greek governing councils (Panhellenic, Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council)Primary advisor to the Order of Omega Greek Honor Society and assist in its reorganization Assist in the execution of Panhellenic Fall Formal RecruitmentAssist in planning and advising of many Greek programming functions (recruitment, Greek Leaders Retreat, Greek Awards, Greek 101 educational programs)Assist with compiling and updating Greek membership cards, chapter rosters, and quarterly reports.Re-registration and Triton Activities Planner (event approvals) as neededAttend meetings as assigned. Other duties as assigned.LEARNING OUTCOMES & ARTIFACTSWill be determined by the Greek Life Advisor and the Graduate Intern/Assistant.REQUIREMENTSMust have a 3.00 cumulative GPA for graduate courses during employment. Must be enrolled in at least 6 units in a student personnel or related program at San Diego State University during the academic year. Must be detail oriented, organized, dependableMust have strong, verbal and written communicationMust have experience with program development and assessing student learning outcomesMust have the ability to interact with diverse populationsMust have some knowledge of program evaluation, data systems, and analysis.Greek membership requiredKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NEEDEDAbility to work in a team environment and independently.Strong initiative and high levels of creativity.Strong organizational and programming skills, with attention to details.Ability to reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.Ability to draw and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
