JOB DESCRIPTION FOR Healthcare assistant (day)

|Purpose of Position |

|To provide high standards of care to service users in accordance with the service users ‘needs and in a compassionate manner. |

|Principal Responsibilities |

|Assist service users who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and continence needs and undertake associated light cleaning and |

|tidying duties. |

|Assist service users to eat and drink as required by them/their special needs, to manage and maintain good levels of nutrition and |

|hydration. |

|Uphold service user’s dignity, privacy at all times. |

|Respond to requests for assistance from service users with minimal delay. |

|Complete all food and fluid charts and any other daily monitoring records required. |

|Help service users with mobility problems and operate hoist and other aids in accordance with resident’s needs/care plans and training. |

|Ensure that service users have any aids e.g denture, hearing aids, spectacles etc fitted, cleaned and in working order. |

|Undertake all required actions to control and prevent the spread of infection. |

|Be aware of and follow the Health and Safety company policy and procedures; report any problems/accidents/incidents to the nurse in |

|charge/Manager. |

|Assist the feeling of wellbeing of residents by the provision of mental and physical activities eg: having short conversations, offering |

|them assistance to move outdoors if they wish, supporting the Nurse in charge and the Activities Co-ordinator in these aims. |

|To report to the Nurse in Charge any changes in individual, any verbal concerns or complaints raised by the service user or visitors. |

|To respect the confidentiality of the service users and the home at all times, including using social networking system. |

|To pay due respect to service user’s possessions and be resourceful in the use of individual and home supplies. |

|To undertake any other duties as when required. |

|Undertake mandatory training, any training necessary for the completion of your duty. |

|Attend a minimum of 2 staff meetings per year, one appraisal meeting and supervisions as requested. |

|To adhere and work in accordance to the Social Care Commitment. |

|To comply with Pinewood’s policies and procedures as detailed in the staff handbook and Polices/Procedures Folder. |
