lefttop00Job Description: Director of the Center for Teaching and LearningThe Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is expected to coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for CCGA faculty. The CTL serves as the central campus-wide professional growth and development program that supports the continuous improvement of all faculty in their roles as teachers; scholars/researchers; and professionals engaged in services to the institution, the community, and the profession as outlined in USG Policy Manual 8.3.14.The Director of the CTL will be a full-time tenure-track or tenured faculty member, having the standard faculty expectations of teaching, service, professional development, and scholarship. The Director of the CTL should receive one 3-credit course release per semester for their Director duties.Minimum Qualifications:Terminal degree.Tenure-track at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.Prior teaching experience.Excellent communication and human relations skills.Evidence of leadership qualities.Preferred Qualifications:Tenured, at the rank of Associate Professor or higher.Administrative experience.Essential Duties:Create professional development opportunities in different modalities to enhance student learning, including semester launch activities.Promote and advertise professional development opportunities from other CCGA offices, such as eLearning and the Center for Service-Learning; the USG Office of Faculty Development; other USG initiatives; and other national organizations.Facilitate faculty communication concerning best practices to facilitate student learning.Provide assistance to faculty for the improvement of teaching.Coordinate annually a faculty learning community for all new faculty.Work with the Faculty Senate’s Faculty Development Committee to determine the direction and programming of the CTL based on the needs and priorities of the faculty and the College.Work with the Faculty Senate and Academic Affairs to facilitate the nomination process for system-wide teaching awards/programs (the USG Regents’ Teaching Excellence Awards, USG SoTL Fellows, USG Governor’s Teaching Fellows) and school teaching awards (Professor of the Year).Serve as the College’s liaison to the USG’s CTL Consortium.Conduct short-term and long-range strategic planning, assessment, and evaluation for the CTL, including unit assessment plans, that ensures alignment with the College’s strategic planning.Perform other essential, but non-regular, duties as requested by the AVP for Faculty Affairs and/or the Provost and VPAA.
